    Fantastic Four #271 Oct 1984
    "Happy Birthday, Darling!"
The Fantastic Four, Alicia, Franklin and Wyatt Wingfoot have surprised their leader Reed Richards with a birthday cake.
Reed is genuinely surprised as his birthday managed to slip his mind.

With many candles on the cake, Reed decides to delight Franklin by using his powers to expand his lungs
to comic proportions allowing him to generate the gust of breath needed to blow out all the candles.
Once the festivities being, Sue begins to notice that something is troubling Reed.
Confirming her feelings, Reed takes his wife outside and makes an admission to her: he cannot remember his mother's eyes.
Reed explains that while they were exploring the Negative Zone and he was made a prisoner of Taranith Gestal,
who absorbed Reed's mind into an entire machine, he has realized that since being restored to normal there are gaps in his memories.
As Reed tries to struggle to remember these missing memories, he tells his wife that the earliest thing he can recall
is a few years before they became the Fantastic Four when they battled the being known as Gormuu....

Years ago, a much younger Reed Richards is driving through Central City,
glad that his lover Susan Storm had decided to come out and visit him.
As they are driving, they witness as a strange alien ship passes by their car.
Driving to the landing site they are shocked to discover a horrible looking alien creature emerging from the ship.
It introduces itself as Gormuu, the warlord of the planet Kraalo.
When Reed questions the alien's purpose on Earth, Gormuu explains that he has come to Earth to conquer it.
As Reed pleads to the alien visitor not to do so, it merely brushes off his pleas and walks away, growing with every step.
Soon the United States Air Force is deployed, but their weapons have no effect on Gormuu, who continues to grow and become stronger.

Meanwhile, Reed is meeting with military officials to brainstorm on ways to stop Gormuu and his invasion of Earth.
When reports that the creature is approaching Central City, an evacuation is ordered.
When the general contacts the White House for assistance, the President tries to contact the Russians
to get permission to launch nuclear weapons at the monster without any retaliation.
The Russian premiere warns the President against such an action as it might be seen as an act of war.
With the governments of the world locked in their nuclear rhetoric, Reed decides to try something out.
Racing out to Gormuu's ship, Reed goes inside to investigate.
There he discovers the device that is constantly pumping Gormuu with energy causing him to grow.
Going out to investigate the footprints and measuring the deepness of the footprints, Reed finally has the solution he is looking for.

Rushing back to the Richards Rocket Group facility, Reed begins building a device that will bombard Gormuu with more power.
As he is working he is joined by both Sue and Ben Grimm.
When Reed tells them what he is up to, Ben believes that Reed is betraying them to Gormuu and tries to stop him.
Reed is forced to punch out his best friend then activates the device.
When the beam from the device begin to strike Gormuu, he suddenly shoots up in size.
The alien invader initially gloats, but when he cannot stop growing he begins to panic
as suddenly Gormuu's body grows larger than the planet itself, loses all cohesion and fades away.
In the aftermath of the invasion, Reed explains that he discovered that while Gormuu's body increased in size, it did not increase in mass.
That by increasing Gormuu's size to an exponential level it would cause him to dissipate.
With the threat neutralized, Reed takes Sue and Ben outside where his new experimental space craft is in its final stages,
telling his two closest friends that today's attack make their future space flight all the more important...

... Finishing his recollection, Reed comments how they went on their unauthorized space flight
not long thereafter which resulted in their exposure to cosmic rays and becoming the Fantastic Four.

Putting aside the conundrum for a time, Reed decides to make an announcement to the rest of the team:
They are returning to Central City and the Richards family home so that Reed can finally close any gaps he still has in his memory.
They soon arrive at the Richards estate where Reed is reunited with Giles Peacock
and his wife, the on site staff that has worked for the Richards family for years.

After a round of introductions are made, the Fantastic Four and their friends all sit down to dinner.
There, Reed explains that his father disappeared three years prior to the space mission that gained the Fantastic Four their powers.
Reed's father had left him a few million dollars for his project.
When Wyatt asks about how Reed still has this estate considering the Fantastic Four's early financial woes,
Reed points out that his father maintained separate ownership of the home from Reed,
and that it had enough funds to be maintained and operated by the Peacocks in his absence.

Giles tells Reed that things have been going smoothly with the exception of the occasional ghosts that appear in the night.
He tells the Fantastic Four that they have been regularly visited by strange specters that periodically emerge from the lab owned by Reed's father.
Curious as to what these ghosts might be, Reed and the rest of his team go down to the lab.
He stops She-Hulk before she can smash the door open, warning about traps.
Instead, Reed has Sue use her powers to make the wall transparent so Reed can spot the triggers
and has Johnny uses his flame powers to melt through them, deactivating the traps.

Getting into the lab, they are all shocked to see a massive time platform just like
the one the Fantastic Four confiscated from Doctor Doom early on in their career.
Examining the controls, Reed sees that it was set for yesterdays date and realizes that his father had traveled back in time to try
to get to this point in history and something must have happened along the way and ended up strapped in a parallel universe.
Reed tells his friends and family that there is but only one course of action: use the time platform and try to find his father.

Jessica Gao is Marvel’s choice to spearhead She-Hulk, which will introduce Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters into the MCU. Gao is a veteran of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. Last year, she won a Primetime Emmy for writing the fan-favorite “Pickle Rick” episode of that series. Gao has also written for HBO’s Silicon Valley and Seeso’s Take My Wife. Gao actually won’t be the first Rick and Morty scribe to tackle one of Marvel’s Disney+ offerings. Earlier this year, Michael Waldron was enlisted to pen the upcoming Loki series starring Tom Hiddleston.

I think it is inspired they hired the writer of a Rick and Morty episode where one of the main characters transforms into something green. That episode is a mix of the cerebral with the brutal so I think the She-Hulk show is in more than capable hands. Hope they interview Jessica Gao soon so we can find out more about her perspective of Jen.

I want a parody of the classic Hulk dynamic, where Shulkie fears of transforming into a powerless, mousy scaredy-cat version of herself at an ill-opportune moment.

Excerpt from Feige's interview at The Hollywood Reporter:
Feige is currently developing shows based around Ms. Marvel — the studio's first Muslim hero — as well as She-Hulk and Moon Knight. All three will appear on the big screen after their Disney+ debuts, the exec confirms.

A female showrunner with experience in comedy seems like a good fit for She-Hulk .

    Sensational She-Hulk #6 Oct 1989
    "Star Truck"
She-Hulk is the special celebrity guest at the tour of NASA's new F.T.L. facility in Cape Canaveral.
She is taken out to the launch pad for the new Starblazer, which will be NASA's first faster-than-light space craft.

When Jen arrives, she is greeted by her old friend and teammate Reed Richards, who is working as an adviser on the project.
Their conversation is interrupted when a giant 18-Wheeler truck, labeled the "Big Pig II", comes crashing through security!
While Mr. Fantastic gets the civilians to safety, Jen tries to block the truck with her body.

However, the truck just runs right over her!
The truck starts circling the launch tower, driving everyone away. Jen worries that he is trying to sabotage the launch.
She leaps up onto the top of the truck, and rips open the roof of the cabin--only to find that there is no one driving!
The truck is running by remote control! Suddenly everyone is warned to get clear of the launch area,
because the Starblazer is in launch mode! Seconds later, the Starblazer launches into the air!
Reed realizes that the truck was merely a distraction to cover the hijacking of the Starblazer.
The ship is too high for him to stretch to, and by the time he gets to the Fantasticar, the Starblazer will be out of range.
Jen has another idea--Reed stretches himself out into a giant trampoline,

and Jen bounces off him into the air after the Starblazer!
She-Hulk manages to reach the Starblazer and grab a hold of one of the boosters.
She pulls herself over to the ship itself before the boosters drop off.
Soon the ship is out of the atmosphere, and Jen is floating in hard vacuum.
She floats up to the top of the ship, where she manages to find an airlock...
but she passes out from lack of oxygen before she can get it open.

Soon, she wakes up inside the Starblazer. Once she passed out, Razorback and Taryn O'Connell brought her inside.
Jen doesn't know who Taryn is, but she recognizes Razorback as a trucker-turned-superhero who ran into Spider-Man a while back.
She-Hulk asks if they are chasing the hijackers too, but Razorback explains that they are the hijackers!
She-Hulk tells them that she is gonna call in the Avengers at the first chance she gets, but they tell her they doubt she'll be able to.
While she was unconscious, they activated the hyperdrive engines--the Starblazer is now ten thousand light years away from Earth!
Jennifer demands an explanation, so Taryn tells how she got involved with Ulysses Solomon Archer and his brother Jefferson.
The Archers' rig was forced off the road one night by an outlaw called the Highwayman.
Ulysses (U.S. for short) wound up needing a metal cap to replace part of his skull,
which somehow gave him the ability to send and receive c.b. transmission.
After that, life was a big adventure for them and their friends Poppa Wheelie, Wide Load Annie, Retread and Mary McGrill.
The Highwayman turned out to be U.S.'s brother, who faked his own death after he got hooked up with an alien named Al.
It turned out that all the weird things that had been going on had been part of a test
set up by these aliens, who needed a human trucker to go to the stars for them.
U.S. and Jefferson had a race to see who would get the job--Jefferson tried to ram him, and ended up crashing into a moon!
The aliens saved Jefferson, and told U.S. that he had won the right to go with him.
Poppa Wheelie's truck stop diner was in danger from a man trying to buy the land,
so he and the others went along with U.S.--and took the whole diner with them!
Mary McGrill also went along--and she was Taryn's rival for U.S.' affections.
Mary suggested to Taryn that she should come along too--but Taryn was too scared at the time.
Now that has changed, and she wants to go and find the man she loves.
Since Razorback was the only trucker superhero she knew of, she turned to him for help.

She-Hulk asks why they hijacked the ship, rather than just coming to the Avengers or Fantastic Four and asking them for help.
Taryn says she tried that, but they have their calls screened to block out calls from crackpots.
Given how bizarre Taryn's story is, no one believed her.
Jen understands her problem, even though she doesn't agree with the solution.
However, that is a moot point now, since it is already done.
She asks how they expect to find Archer in the vastness of space.
Razorback tells her they are following the beacon from Poppa Wheelie's diner--and just then they arrive.
They look out the window to see the Star Stop diner, packed with various different starships.

They dock the Starblazer and go inside, to find the same old Short Stop Diner inside, only now it serves all sorts of alien species.
Inside they find Poppa giving directions to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
He sees Taryn and Razorback, and rushes over to greet them!
However, once he sees She-Hulk, he tries to throw her out, mistaking her for a Skrull.
Taryn assures him that Jen isn't a Skrull--she's the She-Hulk.
Poppa recognizes the name, and apologizes to Jen.
Taryn notices all the new alien waitresses, and wonders if the trip turned out to be too overwhelming for Mary after all?

Poppa tells her that Mary just took a few days off, since the baby is nearly due.
Taryn's heart breaks when she hears that Mary is pregnant with U.S.' baby.

Soon, they are all gathered in the house, and Annie scolds Poppa for not finding a better way to break the news to Taryn.
Poppa says he didn't realize that this would be Taryn's first time hearing about it, since U.S. and Mary have been married for so long.
Taryn can't believe that she and Razorback went through all these risk and sacrifices for nothing.
Mary feels badly for her, but reminds her that it was her own choice to stay behind in the first place.

Jen asks where Archer is; since the baby is almost due, she'd expect him to be around.
Annie tells her that he and Retread were out on a shipping run, but were due back two days ago,
and they're starting to get worried. Suddenly, they hear the blare of U.S.'s homecoming signal!
However, they are alarmed to see he is coming in at full speed with no brakes!
His ship smashes right through the main dome, and crashes!
The dome reseals itself, and everyone rushes to check on Archer and Retread.
Mary begins to run into the wreckage to find her husband, but She-Hulk urges her to stay back due to all the spilled fuel.

The truck's door opens, and Xemnu the Titan steps out! "I am Xemnu! I am your master!"

#TodayInMarvelHistory in 1979, Los Angeles criminal lawyer Jennifer Walters goes gamma in “Savage She-Hulk” #1. ☢️

What timing that her 40th anniversary is a day after the 1st anniversary of co-creator Stan Lee's passing, as the last major character he created for Marvel. Savage She-Hulk's cover date is February 1980 but the actual release was this day, apparently.

Based on her tweet about the news, I'm excited that she's so excited to work with the She-Hulk character! " I’ve been chasing She-Hulk for SO long. This is the the definition of a dream come true."

What better way to celebrate than to show the first three pages of her debut issue as provided by Comixology.

I'd like to see a artist draw her in that sleeveless blouse and neckerchief.
