Cool And now.. The all-new MS. MARVEL Sharon Ventura Appreciation 2019

    Sharon Ventura
Sharon Ventura was a former pro-wrestler who fell in love with the Thing
and subsequently joined the Fantastic Four as Ms. Marvel.

During an adventure in space, she was exposed to Cosmic Rays which mutated her body into a rock-like form similar to that of the Thing.

    Origin
Brought up by her strict father, Sharon Ventura constantly sought ways to gain his approval
including joining military school, but she constantly failed to live up to his super-high standards.

Even after he died, she continued to pursue dangerous activities to somehow prove herself to him beyond the grave.

    Creation
Sharon Ventura is a Marvel character and made her first appearance in The Thing #27 Sep 1985, and was created by Mike Carlin and Ron Wilson.
Her first appearance as Ms. Marvel was in The Thing #35 May 1986

To me it would be so awesome were the second Ms. Marvel be introduced as a great friend and partner to Ben Grimm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’m really hoping Dan Slott will undo She-Thing and bring Sharon back.

    Talking Happy Birthday Keith Pollard!!!

    Fantastic Four #322 Jan 1989
"Between a Rock and a Hard Place!" Inferno Crossover.
On a giant boulder hurtling toward, Graviton reminisces about how the Avengers West Coast banished him there.
He notices a large "gravitational anomaly" in New York City and decides to investigate.

On the streets of New York, common appliances have come alive and attack the people.
The Fantastic Four arrive on the scene and help some people out.
Thing and Ms. Marvel discuss Ms. Marvel's recently acquired Thing appearance,

and Thing says there could be a way to change her back.

At their apartment, the Human Torch takes his wife, Alicia Storm, to safety while the city is still crazy.
Watching them are Dragon Man and Aron, who plans on using scrapings from the Fantastic Four to obtain great power.

Graviton observes the demon invasion and gets ambushed by the Thing and Ms. Marvel.

Graviton uses his gravitational powers to fend off the attack and push them into the ground.
The Human Torch shows up, but Graviton creates a vacuum to force him to flame off.
Graviton then makes Ms. Marvel and the Thing try to crush Johnny and finishes the job by crushing all three with a building.

The Thing and Ms. Marvel push away from each other to stop themselves from crushing Johnny,
who wakes up and uses his flame to burn his way out of the building's ruins.
Once again the Human Torch faces Graviton, but this time the Torch pushes his flame to a higher level, drawing in air to create a gale of fire.
Graviton prepares to run, but the Thing emerges from the ruins and knocks him down.
With the team reunited, Johnny flames off, but finds it needed a lot more effort than on previous occasions and much to his concern.

She seems to be cured - she apparently transforms at will. How do you explain her appearing in an issue of Captain America Sam Wilson as Ms Marvel otherwise?

The most likely explanation is that it was not Sharon at all, but rather someone else dressed up in her costume for the event (just as some other wrestler dressed up in a Thing costume to stand in for Ben). There was nothing in the issue saying it was actually Shary, and she's been a She-Thing (in one form or another) in every other appearance she's made--before and since--for the last 20 years.

    Sharon's transformation into a "She-Thing", from Fantastic Four #310 (January 1988):

Did she change back to She-Thing after she got cured in Simonson(?)'s run?

Yes. Doom mutated her back into a monster form (not originally a "Thing" form technically) as punishment after she betrayed him (she was temporarily working as his spy on the FF). This occurred back in the DeFalco/Ryan FF run in the 90s.

The mutation Doom inflicted on her was not stable--her body continued to mutate, and it even affected her mind for a while as well, lowering her intelligence, making her more easily manipulated and angered.

Eventually her mind stabilized back at her normal intelligence level, and her body ended up back in a Thing form. That's the status quo she's been in for the last several years.

That's a great image--thanks for sharing! I'd love to see that as a substitute roster for an issue or arc of FF at some point!

where is she now? Human form or still in Thing form? (I prefer the former).
