The fun thing about the original song could easily describe Poison Ivy! My wife once commented that the original easily can be read as that the woman in the song is in love with Jolene, but not understanding those feelings. I did a rewrite in that vein, but also found out that it made horrible sense from Harley's point of view:

Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
I'm begging of you don't take me from my man
Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
Please don't take me just because you can
Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Ivy

I talk about you in my sleep
There's nothing I can do to keep
Him hearing when I call your name, Ivy

And I can easily understand
How you could take me from my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Ivy

Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
I'm begging of you don't take me from my man
Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
Please don't take me just because you can

You could have your choice of men
But never I'll find one again
He's the only man for me, Ivy

I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Ivy

Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
I'm begging of you don't take me from my man
Ivy, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy
Please don't take me even though you can
Ivy, Ivy
