True. I also felt surprised by the lack of Daken really mentioned from his solo run. That connection seems pretty strong to me, and reinforced by tying it to his Future Wizard self.

How do people take Grace's run seriously?

I think it's because he did a good job at expanding Iceman's powers, paying tribute to his past/continuity, and expanded his mythos, while incorporating elements of gay culture. It really was a well written series, volume 3 was probably the best of the them all. I would have loved to have seen him have more time with the character which would have helped with the pacing. Even Marvel seemed to enjoy the cast as they are basically using the X-Men featured in Iceman in the new Marauders series.

How do people take Grace's run seriously?

As with ANY solo series, audiences are bound to have uneven reactions. There will be positives and negatives.
I firmly stand by my belief that if the solo had a stronger art team (no disrespect, but certain caliber artists just elevate the books their on in a profound way, and this book could've really benefited from that) we may have had an increase in the "pleased" column.
I appreciated the drama with his parents, the compare/contrast with Bobby and Bitty Bobbers, putting an effort into establishing a solid nemesis for Bobby in Daken, surprisingly the Kitty stuff and of course all the cameos/guests.
However, I didn't find the mentor gig with Michaela(?) all that enjoyable, or the angsty Daken sidekick and I'd have LIKED to see he and Emma develop a mutual appreciation for each other but I also understand that my preferences don't necessarily line up with what is appropriate to the character history. So...yeah.

So overall I'm really pleased with some of it and really not with other parts. I'm glad we got it and I'm hopeful for how it will inform his future.

Good question. Any FEATS masters in the thread?
We'd previously seen his golems and had a few instances where he "reformed" himself and I think we even saw him make Ice wings once before (Liu's run?)

The only example I can remember was when Bobby froze the speed of light and did his version of infinite mass punch on a charging Juggernaut. Creating ice golems, animating them, reforming, etc. has been established since the 00s.

In relation to that, issue 5 of the first series was a major gut punch. That issue alone was worth it even if the rest was a major letdown (which It wasn't)

IIRC, that was established in Carey's run.... when Bobby was on a team with Rogue and Sam and all the baddies.
