The moment Bobby refined his power to go from snow-form to ice-form.

I was about to ask if in the beginning Bobby used to cover himself with ice or turn into ice but this helps. Which issue was this? One of the first 10?

Sina isn't exactly the most creative, or original writer.

The in-community-shaming (especially) is complete nonsense to me.
How you choose to interpret someone else's post says more about you and the way you think. There's no shame in being who you are and what you like. Sina does NOT and has never gotten Bobby's voice right. There is a major continuity and characterization problem in the X-office and he doesn't get a free pass because he's a gay writer writing a gay character. It's no different than Soule/Bunn's Crazy Emma Frost, or wtf ever was going on in Gold.

Said the pot to the kettle.

If that really worked all of CBR would be such a healthier place.

Shade is the most press an X-men comic has gotten in a long time. If the X-office was smart, they'd go somewhere with that character.

I think Bobby's voice is perfect in Grace's books. Constant jokes, people pleaser, immature, naive. Grace just added depth to these things and has allowed Bobby to work on a few of them. He's a lot less naive and immature now.

I totally agree. Adding to that, fans tend to have different opinions on what a character's voice should be anyway. In Bobby's case, him being out and largely accepted by those around him would allow him to be more open in pretty much every way, including adopting some new mannerisms here and there. It happens in real life too, people feel more freedom to be who they really are after coming out, so the occasional use of a phrase referencing or associated with gay culture isn't a big deal IMO. He's still the same character at his core, with the jokes, occasional immaturity and impulsiveness etc.

With Disney gettin' the X-Men rights back & doubling down on their streaming service(s) pretty much simultaneously, I can't think of a better time or character, for Marvel's first series featuring a gay lead:

Except Disney isn't exactly the most gay-friendly of companies.

Yet Iceman is the most Disney of LGBT superheroes.

Maybe onscreen, but IDK, pretty sure their internal policies are (re. employees). Which would make sense, when you think about it. So I would say not the least gay-friendly, either. TBH, had Hulu more in mind, anyway.

Bobby Drake, the gay everyman who's cute, cool, and... safe (sanitized) enough, for the House of Mouse's Ideas.
