Didn't Thompson say that Star kept the book from relauching at issue #12? Maybe that's why.
I'm more interested in the mini precisely because it came out of left field so fast. That means that the book can go in any direction; the future is wide open.
It could be a cool self contained story, or it could lead to more interesting stories. Or t could be crap. What it won't be is a story about a character that's been rehashed over and over already.
Especially since we need more powerful, evil villains. Marvel is sort of reforming all its villains right now. All of the X-men's villains are pardoned and anti-heroes at best. Thanos is hanging out in his own series. Doctor Doom right now is a bit... meh. And they even got Mephisto on a leash.
Marvel is short a lot of powerful big bad's right now so I would like to see more that actually stick around. With her powers, I could see Star being somewhat of Marvel's Mister Myxlplyx in how she causes trouble. Like bending reality to mess with the heroes cause that's more fun then just offing them, putting them in tough situations to see how they react, that type of thing.
Also Kelly wrote at the end of issue #11 that "Star is going to be a character we love to hate" and if done right, those can be some of the best characters. But we shale see.

I think Mera was somewhat popular last year, but it's been a whlle now since Aquaman was released.
Yeah, that list specifies 2019 movies, so if it came out last year, that's why she isn't there.
