Weeks later, Threnody's mutant power of absorbing the energy released by the dead and dying flared explosively out of control, killing the woman and her husband. Cast out by the Abomination, Threnody returned to living on the streets in Los Angeles where she was found by the local police near the hospital where the mutant Infectia lay dying of the Legacy Virus. Absorbing the ambient neuroplasmic energy. Threnody unwittingly killed two policemen and fled. Seeking shelter in the laboratory of Gordon Lefferts, the first recorded victim of the Legacy Virus, Threnody encountered several X-Men when they arrived to investigate. Nate Grey Child?

Nate is Father but When Threnody conceived a child, her powers affected the baby, resutling in it becoming an undead demonic creature. In order to nourish the child, Threnody required to regularly transfer to her baby the necroplasmic energies she was capable of absorbing. To this end, she joined the Assassins Guild. When the Assassins Guild clashed with the mercenary Deadpool, Threnody was sent with Blackout to take him down. However, she stopped Blackout from killing Deadpool, and left the Guild to partner with him and use their adventures as a new source of death energy for her child. When Deadpool took down the Assassins Guild, he left his handler Weasel and his pregnant wife Clarice with Threnody. After Weasel was killed by Assassins Guild mercenaries, Threnody kidnapped Clarice, with the intention to absorb her unborn baby's energy. She hoped that the energy of Clarice's baby would be enough cure her baby's affliction. Deadpool tried to make Melody come to her senses to no avail, so he impaled Threnody's baby to stop her. Threnody initially retaliated against Deadpool until he made Melody realize he wanted to spare her from the guilt of murdering a child. She then left him with the warning to stay away from her.

    The Queen of Death!

It was really great seeing her in Deadpool Assassination again. Bunn's always been really good with completing old plot threads but no one ever follows back up.
Hopefully, someone else uses her again. I really liked her as a merc partnering with Deadpool to also give her death fuel. Anti-hero with an agenda of her own who occasionally helps the X-men would be ideal. She just doesn't need to betray the team every other week like Mystique does.

So is the kid dead I mean he is undead so he can't really be dead right? Figured Age of X-Man would give her some time to shine. Guess not or maybe not yet.

Just read Deadpool Assassins 5 and 6 it’s cool that officially Nate grey has real ties to the 616 universe with him and threnody having a child, and you can’t kill The undead

I always envisioned her becoming the 616 version of Bloodstorm , even though that moniker is for Alternate Storm , I always loved that characterization from Mutant X and feel like it would be perfect role for Melody.

He doesnt. Nate wasnt brought up in that issue and considering he was with Threnody back in the mid to late 90s, there's no way that baby was his.

It died? Threnody has been used so infrequently that anything could have happened with her. It dont make sense that 20 years later her baby is still a baby

It’s the same baby. Also it’s not 20 years marvel time

No its not 20 years Marvel time but it sure as hell is more time than the kid to be past the baby phase of his life.
