During every full moon, I form a summoning circle out of crêpes and wish for a writer to finally make Batroc one of Steve's partners.

Just for the sake of clarity, do you mean crime fighting partner, or personal life partner? (I know, I know--the argument can be made that in Steve's case there is no difference )

Looks like it was a hetero man crush...no problem with that though.

Since Captain America #400 doesn't count, would this be the first time we've seen Batroc without a mask?

That might be because, according to Chip Zdarsky, Steve's one true love is actually Namor...

    Continued...

...took me a second to remember that Iron Man had a secret identity initially and not even the team knew that Tony Stark was Iron Man. Nice touch, Zdarsky.

Man, if you threw in Sam there we'd have all of Steve's best Superhero buddies in one preview page .

I'd throw Thor in there, too. But yes, pretty much! Though does grave!Bucky count?

And on that note... my entire Cap collection for a Sam Wilson appearance in the current Cap book. I mean, seriously, there was no reason to shelf him like that and it makes no sense plot-wise either, considering how close he and Steve are, and how their relationship was depicted/last shown in that Captain America Generations issue following Secret Empire (let alone decades of Cap comics) for him not to be there.

The only reason I could think of would be that Marvel got leery of the backlash Sam received for becoming the new Captain America and decided to take him off the board for a few years until said backlash died down, especially after his post-Captain America solo didn't do so well. That said, it is a real shame that we don't see Sam showing up to help his best buddy Steve in this trying time.

What would you guys say are the best issues from the Captain America run of 1968-1996 (#100-454)?

    My choices:

    10. Captain America #254 (February, 1981) - "Blood on the Moors"

    9. Captain America #445 (November, 1995) - "Old Soldiers Never Die"

    8. Captain America #332 (August, 1987) - "The Choice"

    7. Captain America #367 (February, 1990) - "Magnetic Repulsion"

    6. Captain America #175 (July, 1974) - "...Before the Dawn!"

    5. Captain America #350 (February, 1989) - "Seeing Red"

    4. Captain America #113 (May, 1969) - "The Strange Death of Captain America"

    3. Captain America #156 (December, 1972) - "Two Into One Wont Go"

    2. Captain America #345 (September, 1988) - "Surrender"

    1. Captain America #448 (February, 1996) - "Operation Rebirth: Conclusion"
