You sounded like you were starting at Fraction or God of Thunder. If you want to also read the new books in parallel either start with JMS, Fear Itself or Aaron.

You could also read along with The Mighty Thorcast, which has been a little slow lately but started at the beginning and also coincidentally #611.

I believe that was "present day" odin, not some future old odin.

the Godbomb killed gods across time. All gods were praying to thor across time. Including present day odin who exiled himself to destroyed asgard space I do believe

We know from the narrator that they are separated. That likely means that one or other is dead. The valknut motif on Odin’s chestplate could be protecting him from death in that it could allow him to arrive back at Valhalla where we have seen that symbol used as the gateway.

Dark Freya really belongs in Hel as far as I am concerned. She could clear it out with the help of the army of Dark Elves she has killed.

OK. Since he was so old as hell I thought he was from some future.

Read Walter Simonson's run and then Dan Jurgens' run, the very best Thor books.

    Odin always looks old.

even when he is young he is old.

With these characters, even more than comics in general, I always remember that a death is rather temporary, the writers don't need much of a mechanism to bring any of them back, and certainly the death of a skyfather is rather reversible without too much contrivance

Given how Odin has been written I'd be happy him being taken off the board for a while and a refreshed version coming back at some point

Lol true. I guess no one truly captures an actual "young" Odin

    Aaron doesn't care though.
