Hickman and Ewing would be my choice but I have a feeling we will get someone else entirely.
Odin will die.-or Thor dies in Endgame, and comic book Thor dies in War of Realms to tie in kind of
in fact, he should impale himself with Gungnir and be done with it.
I can't look at him anymore.

Ommadon: “By summoning all the dark powers I will infest the spirit of man So that he uses his science and logic to destroy himself. Greed and avarice shall prevail, and those who do not hear my words shall pay the price. I'll teach man to use his machines, I'll show him what distorted science can give birth to. I'll teach him to fly like a fairy, and I'll give him the ultimate answer to all his science can ask. And the world will be free for my magic again.”
From my perspective it looked like you were trying to suggest that your perspective on mythology implied more than a subjective view. If that's not the case then fair enough. I was pointing out a truism not attacking you, just challenging that apparent assertion. You appear to agree with the truism at least.
I am more interested to know why your perspective on mythology is somehow so anathema to their current portrayal that you would see them in such a negative way. Especially given the long history of these characters being portrayed in many and varied ways.
well I was responding to a poster that found (in the current writing) similarities between zeus-hera and odin-freya, I think that writing odin as a norse zeus it's really a disservice to the character, If we can put aside their positions as god-heads of their respective pantheons, the 2 gods could not be more different, as a matter of fact in comparative mythology odin's greco-roman analogue is considered to be Mercury/hermes as they are both wandering gods-gods of magic- psychopomps etc, also they cover the same day of the week "wednesday", odin is a grim god, more intellectual, thoughtful and somber than Zeus as ever been. Huginn and Muninn the 2 crows of odin represent thought & memory/mind, they are extensions of the god, they symbolize the connection of the divinity to deep shamanistic powers and introspective approach to life...... but talking of current portrayals I just feel like all the nuance surrounding Odin as god has been written away, all there is left is a drunk fool and a misogynist passed by his family and kingdom.

I am not a fan of comparative mythology myself. But I am familiar with it. But surely there just isn’t enough Norse mythology to truely decide if these kinds of comparisons are valid?

If academics argue about who Odin was and what he represents, and they do endlessly, why do you think comics would be any clearer? Do you have some specialist knowledge that the rest of us don’t have about who Odin was?
What we know for certain is fragmented. What the public think they know is mostly bad eighteenth and nineteenth century nonsense based on conflating him with Germanic lore, entirely made up Scandinavian nation building, and British imagination during a romanticised age.
I can only go by recent scholastic thought and believe it or not, some of that is genuinely reflected in Aaron’s Odin. That might be coincidence but to be honest he knows as much about Odin as anyone else does. Odin is a complete mystery.
