I don't want to be too excited by the B portion of the story cause I have been advocating for this lady death for a long time. But if she does somehow die from this than I would be surprised I feel like Marvel are just teasing this portion of the story just to gather more interest in this back up series.

Things like Harry and stuff from last century SHOULDN'T have happened in the B-Books. Early 90's Spider-Man is famous for not seeming to understand which creative team should've actually been on Amazing because of worse editors. Jonah learning the identity was an important development for him, but when Zdarsky's spectacular is essentially Jonah's book and doesn't involve stuff that could like, kill him, it's more acceptable. "Aunt May has cancer" is a plot that should be introduced and concluded in Amazing, if they were actually serious about it. The more likely scenario, is that they want to tell a really cool breast cancer story with Aunt May that will finish here. She could just, y'know, beat it.

When they call a small number of people in, they're planning some kind of crossover or corner event. And given the success of Venom, a Venom corner event is a given.

Well I'll focus on the main story which I enjoyed. If this book is going to be a more grounded street level Spidey book, its off to a good start.

I think Jonah finding out Peter's secret in Spectacular has disproven the whole "nothing big will happen in B-books", now anything goes. I could very well see this as being setup, and then Peter finds out in Spencer's book later. Taylor even said earlier about a "MAJOR" development, so I don't see this being quickly resolved or thrown to the wayside like nothing. Also Zub is probably one of if not the best involving referencing and keeping in continuity with other writer's books, so Mephisto in Champions, even though he's supposed to be locked up in the Hell Casino, can't be just him not knowing about that, he has a plan and reason for using him.

I feel like satellites or "B-titles" having important stuff happen to them was less of a case "back in the day" then it is now.

This was a really great issue and an engaging start to Taylor's run for the series!

I like that this is focusing on the "Friendly Neighbourhood" aspect, showing Peter helping in non-Spider-Man ways and his interactions with his literal neighbours. I really like the possibility of being able to see more of these intimate moments, and how helpful Peter can be just on his own. And there's also an interesting mystery regarding Lelani and those twins. And of course, there's that backup story that steals the show. Peter and MJ going on a date watching the sunrise, and with her even wearing a Spider suit was so adorable and sweet. And Aunt May with cancer is quite a bombshell to end on. Verrrrrrrry intrigued to see where this is gonna go, especially since the letter seems to all but confirm she does know his secret. Also despite all the pain surrounding her, we still get a badass moment where she tells Wilson Fisk off, that was great.

Yeah, it was a solid issue. Didn't expect anything less from Taylor and Cabal.

Happy that ASM has at least one satellite title out there. I liked D'Zarsky's Spectacular quite a bit and this looks like it'll be fun as well.

Intrigued by the back-up story. Will wait and see where things go before speculating too much.

What was in her letter that made you infer that she knew his secret? I didn't get that at all.

When she talked about him dealing with everything happening recently through his humour, and then mentioning how he can't be everyone at once, that just made me feel like she was maybe hinting she knew more than she seemed.

Also, basically since the end of Slott's run it's felt like to me that Aunt May has secretly known, so any little hints that like have stood out a bit more to me.

I didn't quite take it that way but I can see how one could interpret it that way. I thought those comments, and her overall depiction over the last several years, were more a function of Aunt May being written younger and more vibrant in the comics as opposed to the doddering old aunt of decades past.

Don't forget: Aunt May knows Peter had to deal with losing his company (Parker Industries) and she along with many close friends/family were just targeted by Norman Osborn in Slott's final story. I think her comments were more in response to all of that than a veiled reference to her knowing his secret.

The possible future for 616 Peter and MJ shown in "The Book of Peter" establishes they have two children, a 616 version of Benjy, and a daughter called Mary. It's perhaps likely that those children could be produced from a second attempt at marriage between Peter and MJ for this specific timeline, leaving the 616 Annie part of the aborted timeline

This issue really gave me those Paul Jenkins/Mark Buckingham Peter Parker: Spider-Man vibes. Love it.

I'm not thrilled about going down the "Aunt May is dying - again" road, but I'll see where Taylor is going with this.
