Technically, MC2 was the comics line Spider-Girl started and 982 was the designation of the universe the comics in the MC2 line took place in.

I understand that but somethings to keep in mind. At the end of her comic run MayDay had long hair and was sitting on the porch with her boyfriend. In Spider-Verse it is suppose to pick up exactly where the Spider-Girl comic ended with her and her boyfriend on the porch but she has short hair, and a different eye color. And I will have to find where it was posted but I am fairly confident that DeFalco hinted that the MC2 and 982 where different universes.

They live. Billy and Mayday is currently living in the Steampunk universe. Billy is loving it and feels comfortable in that universe reminding him of home (I have a feeling Billy and Lady Reilly will hit it off and the two will stay together in her universe) while May is hoping to find a way home soon and is very worried as the Electro prison they made is buckling.

Billy seems too happy there and he seems attracted to Steam punk Spider-Woman. Maybe he'll quit the team to live with her? Will Mayday stay or will she return to MC2 to be back with her family and boyfriend?

It looks like Mayday urgently wants to find a way back, especially since their makeshift cage for the Electros isn't working out as well as they'd hoped. And yeah, I'd ship Spider-UK/Lady Spider, if that's where Costa's going with this.

Because they had no reason to believe that it would only be for one.

In a nutshell, Marvel did not give some or a lot of us a lot of faith that Mayday would be treated well by the current management.
