Yeah, if you're a fan of silver age cheese, the Aquaman volume of the time was great! Otherwise, I recommend pretty much the New 52 run straight until right now, skipping only volume 7 (the six issues Bunn wrote). If you've finished that and aren't a silver age fan, Sub Diego may be your cup of tea. Give it a look!

It doesn't work for me, but the Peter David run has a lot of fans. If you're more interested in an aggressive Aquaman akin to the one on the Justice League animated show, give that run a read. I think it's still on DC Universe. It has what might be the absolute most savage moment Black Manta has ever been a part of.

The Aquaverse twitter account did an interview with KSD where she talks all things Aquaman.

Haven't had a chance to give it a full listen yet but the beginning parts I did listen to are nice. Kelly says that she hopes she's staying true to Arthur's noble nature and all characters have archetypes (detectives, loners, mean guy, etc.) and she sees him as "the hero."

I think most people would probably say "the king" but that seems to fit with DeConnick's view of Arthur currently.

Very interesting, I’ll have to check it out. I wish there were more Aquaman podcasts out there

The Arthur/Mera seeing each other for the first time moment was super cute.

Some of you might remember the bubblegum pop band Aqua. Their big hit was Barbie Girl. A comment from a friend of mine led to the following crackfilk in relation to the movie:

    M: Hiya Arthur
    A: Hi Mera
M: Do you wanna go save the world?
    A: No way Mera
    M: Jump in

A: I'm the Aquaman, in an aqua world
Life in water, it's a slaughter
You can see me swim, no skirt on my skin
    Imagination, just with some narration
M: Come on Arthur, let's departure

A: I'm the Aquaman, in an aqua world
Life in water, it's a slaughter
You can see me swim, no skirt on my skin
    Imagination, just with some narration

A: I'm a big beefy boy in a fantasy world
Take my clothes, beat me up, I'm your boytoy
M: You're my boy, rock and roll, be the hero and king
Kiss me here, touch me there, eat my flower

A: You can touch, you can play
If you say you bring the beer
    Ooh woo

A: I'm the Aquaman, in an aqua world
Life in water, it's a slaughter
You can see me swim, no skirt on my skin
    Imagination, just with some narration

M: Come on Arthur, lets departure
    A: Ah, ah, no, way
M: Come on Arthur, let's departure
    A: Ooh, ooh
M: Come on Arthur, let's departure
    A: Ah, ah, no, way
M: Come on Arthur, let's departure
    A: Ooh, ooh

A: Make me walk, make me talk, do whatever you please
I won't act like a king, I know some history
M: Come jump in, hero friend, let us do it again
Hit the town, run around, let's departure

A: You can touch, you can play
If you say you bring the beer
You can touch, you can play
If you say you bring the beer

M: Come on Arthur, let's departure

Pre-requisite "Put a shirt on Aquaman" comment from me .

Man, the long hair and bead make him look really old with this art.

Sea Daddy is as ridiculous as I'm sure DeConnick is going for.

Could you all ever see an Aquafamily of books and if so what would you do? Stuff like: A main Aquaman book, "Aqualad and the Others," a book dedicated to The Drift and all the bad things happening around Atlantis or even be the team looking for the other kingdoms? Heck, even make a book starring Tempest focused on the sword and sorcery of atlantis while Arthur keeps the more political/sci-fi type feel.

It never feel like Arthur has time to connect or mingle with his supporting cast outside of Mera a lot of the time. And there doesn't feel like he always has the opportunity compared to Batman and the Batfamily.

I would have the main book revolve around Atlantis and star Arthur, Mera, Garth, Tula, Murk and Dolphin.

A satellite title would follow Atlantian-human hybrids on the surface world - Jackson, Lorena, Koryak, Neptune Perkins and Miya Shimada.

I would do a king shark story where he’s more of a working class brawler and doesn’t have to have Arthur’s kingly graces

It really would just be an Aquaman and Mera book, perhaps even Mera solo adventures. I don't think the Aquafamily would ever really get beyond two books and The Others are, frankly, never going to sell a title. If you want a second Aquabook, Mera absolutely needs to be present.

I’d rather get an Aquafamily book over Mera book tbh. Yeah Mera is more popular then any single member of the Aquafamily outside Aquaman. But the family gives people the opportunity to pick a character they like and a chance to follow their favorite from the cast.

Something like the Inhuman or X-Men books.

Difference is you have The Others, Atlantis, Amnesty Bay cast, Aquaman family.

Mera typically costars in the main title honestly
