Speaking of Norse Godesses, has there ever been a reason given for why Walt Simonson's Frigga and the modern one look so different?

One was an overweight motherly type ("Frigga") and Aaron's "Freyja" is far more youthful, active and slim.
Is this the same character? Freyja has said she has been married to Odin for millennia, but I can't believe this is the same Godess!
