Angela is just too ordinary, everyday of a name for me to be a character's superhero name, whether it's a pun on Angel or not. "Angela" isn't the name of a superhero, it's the name of somebody I went to middle school with.

I don't think she is meant to be a superhero tbh.

I don't think she was intended to be one when she created in Spawn, sure. But now Thor is her brother, she's been on both the Guardians and Asgardians of the Galaxy, and she's about to be on a team with Spider-Woman, Spectrum, Blade, Winter Soldier, and Wiccan. She's a superhero.

Sure, but Jean Grey*, Quentin Quire*, Jessica Jones*, Elsa Bloodstone & various Runaways show that codenames aren't for every superhero.

*Their real names have definitely been used more than their codenames.

She either ends up looking like one of the same or overshadowed by them. She should have had her own little corner of the MU carved out. Maybe hunted down Ghost Riders or something.
Agreed. Marvel fumbled this one and basically stripped the character of what made her original and interesting. Would much rather see her as the badass demon-hunting angel she was originally conceived as.

I thought about that before my initial post: in all those cases, the surname is essential. Angela is just... Angela. It isn't Jean, Quentin, Jessica, Elsa, Alex. It's Jean Grey, Quentin Quire, Jessica Jones (the alliteration is a key part of what makes it a catchy and memorable name), Elsa Bloodstone (Bloodstone being a surname that provides a ton of personality to the name), Alex Wilder. Imagine is James Bond was just James. You lose the effect.

I really think the name is just coasting based on the pun and your standard comic book character inertia.

I take your point. Aldrif Odinsdottir certainly isn't quite as catchy, but I note that Fernande, the latest Heven character of note, is also rocking the single name so it might be a naming convention for Heven that Marvel has decided upon. (Her GF was called Anemone too.)

I like Angela as her "codename". And she's asgardian and they just uses names like Thor, Sif, Hela, Lorelei or Loki (The Enchantress seems to be an exception, same for Skurge)

I guess my problem is that unlike names like Thor, Sif, Hela and Loki, Angela is so mundane.

I really like Angela in this book, but the team and their mission is still too random for me. I would like to see her meet Conan, or Jane foster though.
