I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Congratulations to Seismic for the win, and to Javasaurus for a strong first showing (unless you've participated much earlier). 30 votes, that's more than usual.
Thanks to seismic for the vote! Always nice when the winner votes for your entry…
Way to go, seismic-2!

THE CBR COMMUNITY STANDARDS & RULES ~ So... what's your excuse now?
Thanks, everyone! As the voting shows, there were a lot of first-rate covers this week. This particular Quitely cover is one that always makes me say "Oh, wow..." every time I see it. My entry was the very first one that was posted this week, which shows that when you've got a really great cover you need to post it quick, or else someone else will use it. I have a couple of appointments today, so I'll post the new contest sometime mid-afternoon.
Congrats seismic-2, and thanks WPP for doing the tally.
And thank you to everyone who participated.

Nice win seismic!
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Congratulations to seismic-2 for a cover which wonderfully evoked all that is loving and caring about Superman. We see so much in simple poses and expressions. I'm in awe.
As to what the captain has learned this week, he has long been a dog person. In one of the basic questions and two types of people groupings, he falls well within "Dog". Pets are important to us. As children, they are an early way for us to learn responsibility for something else. As adults, they offer us a simpler companion who makes their needs clear and that can be a respite from many parts of life.
Tami, my sympathies go out to you on your loss. I've lost pets before and that pain is real.
Serious stuff aside, I'm glad Streaky got no votes as he was the first "poochie" or "scrappy doo". I had considered a Mr Peabody and his pet boy, Sherman cover but couldn't find a good one with old style art.
Congratulations seismic-2!
You can seldom go wrong using a Quitley cover.
