Yeah turning into mist is a big trump card I actually like the concept of shapeshifting and I'm okay with having different species or different levels of vampires. I also feel like turning into mist isn't super common in vampire mythology in general across different cultures. Than you've probably got to bring crosses or some garlic spray and it has the potential to get a little silly



Blade's a dhampir (sort of) I think that's all the explanation we need or at least that I need. I like the fact that there are different species of vampire and the dark gift can vary throughout the different denizens of darkness works for me. I don't need cookie cutter vampires.


Ability wise I truly think Blade is perfect as is. Superhuman stats and senses, vamp healing. IF you want to give him hypnosis than fine. Everything else you can chalk up to skills or specialized weaponry.

You give Blade mist powers some he will be able to overcome threats too easily or some writers will bungle it if not straight up ignore it.

Then as Xpac was alluding too, if every vampire and their mother can turn into mist how am I suppose to take it seriously that people can kill them as easily as they can. I think writers are better served keeping ti as some rare or high level trait.

I get your point about vampires being more well defines but Marvel seems unlikely to do this. Every writer seems free to do whatever they want with vampires and its both good and bad imo.

I think from what we've seen the mist ability tends to be defensive or for travel. Vampires can't attack while they're most. I think we've seen Blade wait for vampires to materialize to stake them a few times. Also how many human hunters are there anymore?? I feel like most of them that we've seen have died.

If all vamps can mist, then theoretically they can all do what they did to the Avengers. Turn into mist and just leave. It should be nearly impossible for anyone, even Blade, to kill them. Swinging a sword at mist flying away into the night sky doesn't make for a particularly compelling battle sequence.

I think turning into mist at least should only be reserved for high end vamps. Otherwise, they have to be written way to stupidly to be usable. Blade

I think they probably could, I think most vampires die because they're trying to attack and get caught off guard. Like captain America killed a bunch because they were trying to kill him to destroy the church. Have to be in physical form to attack.

And that's why you're better off just leaving it to the high end vamps. It's fine to allow Dracula to get away, but random vamps who basically exist in the story to get staked anyways don't need the ability to escape.

I feel you. I think it'd be helpful to establish some type of process by which vampires grow stronger with age. They always mention it, but it seems kind of ambiguous.

Also I'm reading through the last couple of stories Blade has been involved in (Damnation and Spirits of Vengeance) and I'm wondering if they're eventually going to pick up on those plot threads. Blae and Ghost Rider have had their past few storylines pretty closely intertwined. Both he and Johnny Blazed are promised a favor from Heaven, he's among the team that's supposed to rescue Johnny from hell (which it looks like has been picked up as a plotline in Avengers) and now Blade was instrumental in taking down Robbie and tried to tell him to leave all the Rider stuff behind.

I have a feeling maybe marvel is featuring them together heavily as they need story lines to base a movie or tv series on.

Also they never followed up with Blade working with Da Vinci in the new SHIELD. Which I'm fine with, it was kinda weird.

Watching this, I really hope we see Wesley involved in *some* way with the next Blade movie. Seems like he understands the cultural weight the movie could have from listening to him discuss his other projects

Yea, I think that's the issue with a lot of movies. Where directors/producers put something looking cool before the characters and the story

Monica doesn't really like Blade.

Besides, it'd be a bad idea. She's too powerful. It'd be like Atum empowering Blade, but sticks to fighting regular vampires. Its a misuse of the character's abilities where she'd never be under any real threat.
