Default Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Wins Best Animated Film

In an Oscars with some big upsets (Best Actress! Best Picture! Bohemian Rhapsody winning the most academy awards) one frontrunner won comfortably: Into the Spider-Verse just won Best Animated Film.

It's the first since 2012 not to go Disney.

One astute point has been that this is likely to be one of the biggest inspirations on future animated film in some time.
    Sincerely,

Yeah they way Disney basically had this category locked down for the longest, i was expecting Incredibles 2 to just coast it's way to an easy win. Spider-Verse was this really surreal lightning in a bottle of hype and great critical reception.

And yeah, the way the Animation industry received the film, you get the feeling that's it's definitely going to be one of those landmark movies taught in Animation schools going forward.

And Stan Lee was featured in the In Memoriam Video.

But yeah, Miles Morales is the most successful legacy character ever. He headlined the most acclaimed and honored superhero movie.

The kid brought home the gold.

Kind of ironic considering Disney technically owns Spider-Man but this movie was Sony's .

OMD is one of the most maligned stories in Marvel's publishing history.

Into the Spider-Verse wins an Academy Award.

Maybe Marvel should have just had Peter and MJ divorce.

I called Best Actress elsewhere for Olivia Coleman. I just missed out on Best Picture.

Well the movie ends with the hope the two will reconcile and have the kids Peter was frightened to have, so if they do, OMD will look even worse.

Awesome. An absolutely fantastic film that summed up everything Spider-Man is and message he brings in one film. Made even more fitting as it felt like a tribute after the death of Stan and Steve.

One of the best Spider-Man things ever with Lee/Ditko's run and TSSM cartoon.
