Didn't stop them from putting Gwen front and center on the cover >_> Spider-Gwen feels like the Wolverine of Spiders at this point.

Is Marvel using the "Ghost Spider" name for marketing of toys and such?

From the LEGO® Marvel Spider-Man 76115 Spider Mech vs. Venom set,

It seems like Gwen is being called Ghost Spider in every media except her own comic book. In the kid-friendly team up books, animations, toys and everywhere else she's always referred to as Ghost Spider by every character.

Yeah, despite the book being called Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider, she's still called Spider-Woman in the story. Spider-Geddon established where the Ghost Spider name came from (Miles), but for some reason writer Seanan McGuire hasn't made the change of name official. Marketing be damned, if she doesn't change her codename in story, the name of the book doesn't make sense.

It's a for marketing purposes. Same way that Spider-Man Noir or Spider-Man India aren't called that in-universe. The main purpose is probably to get a Superhero name out for brand recognition (since Spider-Gwen might not seem cool enough) and because Ghost Spider has the same initials as Gwen Stacy.

Licensed toy product from a very popular / successful toy company.

(I don't own any of these, I just noticed it on the shelf at a Walmart recently.)

You know, I can’t help but find it kinda funny that Gwen was known as Spider-Woman back when her identity was secret but the second she revealed it, everyone started calling her Spider-Gwen leading to her contemplating a new name. Now that she’s changed it to Ghost-Spider, now everyone wants to call her Spider-Woman again. It’s like she just can’t win.

To be fair, I think she's still being called Spider-Gwen in-universe - the person she saved from a mugging in Issue 1 called her that iirc. It's just the two fangirls who called her the proper name.

A recent solicit called her Spider-Woman as well, so she'll still be using that name for at least a few more months.

Welp, Gwen should've seen this coming:

    SPIDER-GWEN: GHOST-SPIDER #8
    SEANAN MCGUIRE (W)
    TAKESHI MIYAZAWA (A)
    Cover by BENGAL
    MARVEL BATTLE LINES
    VARIANT COVER BY NEXON
    • Making a dent in the criminal underworld has painted a target on Spider-Woman’s back — and with her secret identity revealed, Gwen Stacy will find the people she cares about most in the crosshairs!
    • But even if she can save her loved ones from the criminals of Earth-65, Gwen will still be a target herself!
    32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Maybe she should've stuck with her old idea of being a 'rescue people from burning buildings' hero rather than going back to beating up criminals.

Well, the secret identity thing can't be taken back. Not unless she abandons 65. But she won't leave her father and the band behind. This will be a never ending battle.

Or accepted Cap's offer in prison. Cops are at risk, but they have organizational backing which discourages most crims. Gwen's a lone vigilante.

Tell that to 616's Peter Parker and to 616's Matt Murdock (among others).
