My prediction for Brandi is that she will assume she is now Madame Gao's favorite, will try to leverage that, and will get smacked down hard.

Chester is nasty as hell... I'm not used to seeing that level of violence on basic cable... but the glint of the sun off his plot armor is blinding. He magically knows stuff because he needs to know it for the story, and he is immune to all obvious consequences because he is Just That Big a Badass. (I mean, Shobnam's father is a major figure in international banking. He probably doesn't go an hour of his life without someone trying to contact him. And Chester has kept him locked in a cage for how long, with apparently no one suspecting or checking up on him?)

And Madame Gao... I get that she's a superheroine, having passed the "Great Exam" before she had her first period or whatever. But Master Zane is the unconventional combat instructor at a worldwide school for high-level assassins. Even Madame Xena there shouldn't have been able to make him look like a fool, standing there getting his ass kicked and then meekly allowing some bimbo to carve a letter on his face. Madame Gao's superior skills don't mean that everyone else magically loses theirs. There should have been a real fight there, Madame G should have taken a few hits. This kind of thing is hardly specific to Deadly Class, but it's something I wish filmmakers would get past. Even Wonder Woman gets hit occasionally.

Viktor is, I guess, as funny as anyone gets on this show apart from Brian Posehn. (Wonder what happened to him? Nothing good, probably... Chester is a Hollywood Psycho and has to kill everyone he meets just because.) It's been a while since I last saw a Gay Panic joke in a TV show. Not that it isn't perfectly appropriate for 1987.

French Stewart really is knocking the cover off.

Yeah, this is a long way from Third Rock From the Sun. He's pretty damned impressive here.

Looks like it winds up being a ten episode first season.

I hope it gets picked up for a second season. It seems to be averaging from 350,000 to 500,000 live viewers... I don't know if that's considered good by SyFy standards or not. I know I've watched the last several episodes streaming, and I would think a lot of people do the same.

For the folks who are watching the show but haven't read the comics...

The website Deadline has a "Season One Wrap Up..." interview with Remender. Having looked through it, I would suggest avoiding it based on the way the show is progressing versus the way the comic did.

You can't really read through it without potentially spoiling some of the comic.

    One super tiny grumble...

It was a bit of a drag to see them finally seem to slip up on the whole "Period Correct" aspect of what they are doing.

That said, I may be one of about six people that actually caught it. It will be interesting to see on that one.

    I missed it.
Felt more like a mid-season finale than a whole season.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

While it is a very tiny one, I do believe that the particular design Descendents shirt that Billy was wearing may not have been a design you could buy until after the band became All before doing a mid-nineties reunion album. Seems like that design was post-reunion.

From what I recall, the late-eighties designs would have been the albums up until Milo left the band(Milo Goes To College/I Don't Want To Grow Up/Enjoy!/All).

That said, bonus points for the continuity in Billy's character. Early on, the tape he stuck in the ghetto blaster was the Milo Goes To College song "Bikeage".

OK finale... though it won't be if it doesn't get a season 2.

The Great Hillbilly Brawl was fun, though I'm not terribly impressed with extended action scenes that take place in the dark. It means they didn't trust their people to pull off the fight choreography well enough for good lighting.

I've finally come to fully appreciate what an annoying little twit Marcus is. Though that's certainly valid storytelling too. You don't necessarily have to like the protagonist, although you have a lot of extra work to make the show work otherwise.

The whole Lin/Gao/Diablo side of the story was kind of a mess. If Gao's objective was to get Lin's daughter and take her to the Temple, why did she sell them out to a man whose objective was to kill the girl?

And when Lin told his daughter, "I sent someone who was supposed to protect you..." Well, he did no such thing. He told Saya to be at a certain address at a certain time. That's all. Saya had no reason to believe she was supposed to protect anyone. She didn't even know Lin's family existed, and she had no reason to believe this was anything other than extra schoolwork to punish her for breaking curfew.

The last-minute killing of Lex was weak. Like they thought, oops... we forgot to kill a major character, and the Drama Handbook says we have to. It's either Lex or Petra since neither of them are series regulars, and we already have two punks, so... kill the spare.

I wondered all season what a nerdy kid like Shobnam was doing in a school like this... but when he told Madame Gao, "I know where they went," and where they went was HIS house... well, he must have a pretty good idea what happened to his parents. He might be the creepiest sociopath on the whole show.

It's hard to see where they go with this next season... I suppose if you know the comics you probably can answer that question. El Diablo is an idiot if he doesn't grease both Marcus and Maria right there where they stand. But no... he's gonna stand there and monologue or come up with some elaborate Bond Villain B.S. to give them (or at least Marcus) a chance to escape. Sigh.

Also hard to see these kids just going back to school, especially with Lin as headmaster. Anything they could do to hit reset at this point would be ridiculously implausible, so I'll be interested to see where they go with it.

    One other "Nerd Corner" moment...

Sometimes there's months(maybe even years once or twice?) between times where I hear "Mr. Crowley".

That tune never stops being kinda spellbinding in the stupidest way possible.

I figure Marcus (and Maria, following his lead) will spin a story about how Maria's investigation revealed that known serial killer F***face killed Chico and took his head for a trophy. Then she got her friends together to take revenge and retrieve the head. The houseful of dead, armed hillbillies will corroborate that. When El Alma del Diablo asks why she didn't bring this information to him and let his men take care of it, she'll say that she needed to prove her loyalty and capability, and anyway the house was full of booby traps (also with evidence for corroboration) that would have cut Diablo's goons to pieces, and specialists were needed.

This would save their lives (except Lex... maybe an apology from Holy Ghost and a corsage at his funeral), put Maria back in good graces, improve Diablo's opinion of King's Dominion and maybe even get him to stop going after Lin. Which Lin will not reciprocate, of course.

I thought the show was pretty good but it looks like Syfy axed it:

    https://tvline.com/2019/06/04/deadly...syfy-season-2/

That doesn't mean it won't show up somewhere else though.
