Well she'd still be Dee Tyler, still be Phantom lady, still have be taught by the original Phantom lady, hell her being educated at the Université Notre Dame des Ombres would still be canon.

    But that's all?

Her family would be changed? All of her past adventures in the U.S. would never have happened?

In that case, why even bother? Why not just create a new one?

Gorgeous Adam Hughes cover to a PHANTOM LADY reprint collection from 1994.
Bit of info about this collection. Personally this is the first I have heard/seen anything about this collection.

It was just an idea. this isn't even the wildest change that's been done to a DC character.

And your link goes to a write-up by somebody who unfortunately really doesn't know very much about the character.

When the character originally appeared in stories published by Quality Comics (1941), she wore her yellow outfit with the green cape.
It wasn't until Fox Feature Syndicate started using the character (in 1947) that her outfit suddenly changed from yellow to blue with a red cape (instead of her original green one).
When DC started using the character in the 1970s, they returned her to her original yellow-with-green color scheme (since they were basing her on the Quality Comics version).

Again, with all the changes, why even bother pretending you're using a previous version? Just make a new one from scratch if you want to change her that much.

I first discovered PL in the Freedom Fighters. That's probably why I have always thought that.

    Amen, brother!

But none of the new FFers look great. Maybe that's by choice? I really liked Acuna's designs -- even if he got carried away with PL's boob size. The new series is just okay so far. I hope they are planning on bringing in Ray at some point. I was excited about this when I first learned of it -- but the execution is not as good as I had hoped.
