Dan wants a multiverse akin to the comics.

The multiverse concept is closest to the OG pitch for Ghost Smashers that Dan gave Sony before Ivan and Harold reigned him in.

The fun part of Rudd being in the new one is that back in 2008-09 when Apatow was attached and pre-production was beginning before Ramis got sick ... Rudd was floated a contract.

So he's finally getting to realize a dream role.

Yep, I remember years back (before that god awful last film was made) they were talking about passing the torch to some other comedians and some of the names I heard were Rudd, Rogen, and Steve Carrell (??). I'm a big fan of Rudd and think he'd be a perfect fit and Rogen would fit in quite well too.

Rudd was the only one floated a contract because they knew if Judd and Rudd were on board, Seth would join in. Then Ramis died, ending it.

The premise was those 2 were terrible bug exterminators that decide to become Ghost Smashers, eff up New York, and the Ghostbusters come in to save the day. Then they retrain them and they all save New York with 2 new rookies, one was to be female.

Final principle cast is set with filming beginning in about a week!

Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim join the cast.

So you have the family unit of Coon, Wolfhard, and Grace teaming up with classmates Kim and O'Connor. Rudd is supposed to be a teacher that they all like and has a thing with Coon's character.

Jason and Dan have said it will be like Poltergeist meets Stranger Things meets Juno meets Ghostbusters.
