Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #6 Oct 1984
    "A Little Death..."
After trying to escape the X-Men, the Wasp finds herself trying to get her escape ship under control.
Unable to figure out the strange controls, the Wasp ends up crashing the ship.
Unsure of where to go, she finds a holographic projector that shows her a nearby dome
and she decides to shrink down to wasp size to try and locate it.
On her way out, she turns and uses one of her bio-stings to destroy the ship.
Flying into a nearby swamp she fights off some aggressive insects and finds the dome that the ship showed her earlier.
Returning to human size the Wasp figures out what to do next when she is suddenly attacked by the Lizard.

Meanwhile, aboard the Worldship of Galactus, Doctor Doom uses a device
there to draw a strange energy he detected within the walls of the ship.
To his surprise this energy reforms into Klaw, the so-called master of sound.
Much to Doom's dismay, Klaw's mind has been affected by the ordeal,
but Doom learns that Klaw got trapped during a battle with Dazzler.
The mutant used her powers to convert his sound form into light energy that she then absorbed into her body.
Later when she was abducted by Galactus, she used that energy to try and attack him,
but the energy did nothing and Klaw's form became trapped in the wall.
Finding Klaw of no use to him, Doom then continues to find something that will help him stop Galactus and then the Beyonder.
Finding a control monitor, Doom views the events on Battleworld.
He sees the gathered heroes regrouping after their battle with his minions who have now fled back to Doombase
while Galactus himself continues to prepare the device that will help him consume Battleworld.
Doom quickly formulates a plan to spoil Galactus' plan
and uses a teleporter to send Klaw down to the planet to deliver a message to his minions.

When Klaw materializes in Doombase, he recites a code word that convinces Ultron that he was
sent by their mutual master, prompting the gathered villains to listen to what Klaw has to say.
Back in the swamp, the Wasp realizes that the Lizard has attacked her out of fear due to the fact that he has been injured.
Convincing the Lizard that she means no harm, the Wasp manages to get close enough to him to treat his wound.
While back at Magneto's base, the X-Men have returned to salvage what they can after it was blasted by Galactus.
Feeling weak, Xavier decides to take a moment to rest.
He then reaches out with his mind telepathically to see what the villains are up to.

Before the Enchantress detects his presence and uses her magic to block him out, Xavier learns how the villains are
planning to cause a volcanic eruption on the other side of the planet and summons his X-Men to venture out and stop them.
When he puts Cyclops in charge this angers Storm as she is the leader of the X-Men.

But when she confronts Charles with this, he warns her that if she refuses to follow his
orders he will not be against using his mental powers to force her to follow his bidding.
Storm concedes but still believes that he is leading the X-Men into defeat.

Meanwhile, at the heroes camp in the alien village, Colossus
continues to recover from the injuries he incurred in the last battle.
He finds himself torn between his feelings for his girlfriend Kitty Pryde back home
and these new feelings he has for Zsaji the alien healer who saved his life.
When she comes to heal him again he tries to open up his feelings for her, but the language barrier prevents her from doing so.
When she goes to depart, she is picked up by the Human Torch who does some areal tricks with her before kissing her
and taking her away, making Colossus grow even more jealous.

Elsewhere Captain America is planning strategies with Mister Fantastic, the Hulk, the Thing and She-Hulk.
When She-Hulk demands that they go looking for the Wasp, who is still missing,
Cap assures her that Captain Marvel is searching for them.
All this talk begins to get on the Hulk's nerves who demands that they go out and smash their enemies.
Not far away, Hawkeye is preparing some traditional arrows after the last of his trick arrows were used to boost Iron Man's armor.
Iron Man meanwhile tries to hit on Captain Marvel, who is uninterested
and confused -- unaware that the man inside the armor is not the Iron Man she has previously known.
For himself, James Rhodes wonders what has come over him and complains about his head hurting,
which has been happening a lot recently since he became Iron Man.

At that moment the X-Men attack the villains at the volcano in an attempt to foil their plans.
During the ensuing battle, Wolverine manages to get close enough to the Molecule Man to slash him across the chest
with his Adamantium claws, although Cyclops blasts Wolverine's arm to prevent him from striking a fatal blow.
The villains retreat with their injured comrade and Cyclops unleashes an optic blast in a volcanic cone
which causes the X-Men to flee themselves when the volcanoes begin to erupt.
While back at the swamp the Wasp finishes binding the Lizard's wounds when she is suddenly
shot through the chest with a laser beam fired by a massive vehicle piloted by the Wrecking Crew.
When the Lizard tries to attack them, they immobilize the creature with a stasis beam
and take the two prisoners even though they believe the Wasp is dead.
Back at the Heroes camp, things appear even grimmer when they see
that Galactus has almost completed his planet-devouring device.
As they contemplate what to do next they are unaware that a shadowy figure is observing their movements.

    Uncanny X-Men #186 Oct 1984
    "Lifedeath"
Storm has been taken to the Dallas, Texas home of mutant inventor Forge following an ordeal
where her powers have been stripped from her by a weapon of Forge's own invention.
Unaware of this fact, the former mutant has lost her will to live and has spent her time in Forge's company refusing to eat.
Forge's attempts to help her fail and he becomes frustrated and acts as though he gives up on her.

Watching a holographic display of the incident earlier when Henry Gyrich blasted her,
Forge is surprised when Storm comes out of the guest room and tells him that he was kind, but should have let her drown.

While at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, the Professor tries to track Storm
through Cerebro after he detected her pain caused by the neutralizer device.
However, he tells Nightcrawler that he cannot.
Whatever caused the pain has severed their psychic rapport, but he insists that she is still alive somewhere.

Storm, meanwhile, is spending time with Forge.
She learns that Rogue has escaped government capture and comes to terms with the fact that she no longer has powers.
She finds the holograms that make Forge's home seem to be suspended in mid air unnerving.
Later when Forge is swimming in his pool, Storm decides to join him and they race across the pool.
Storm gets to the other side first and is shocked to find that Forge is a cyborg,
as his artificial hand and leg have been left by the side of the pool.
When Forge comes out of the pool he shows her the scars down the side of his body
and tells her that his injuries were a result of his missions during the Vietnam War.
He explains to her that after the accident he too lost his will to live,
but with time and healing he learned to move on with his life.

In Caldecott County, Mississippi, Val Cooper and her colleague Philip are winding down after their mission.
Their search for Rogue being a dead end after Storm's depowering caused their mutant detector to short out.
When Phil goes to his car to drive home, he is attacked by a Dire Wraith who quickly kills him and takes his form.
The Wraith disguised as Phil then leads its fellow Wraiths to Val's hotel room.
Gaining access through Val's trust in Phil, the creatures attack her with the intent of replacing her with a Dire Wraith.
Before they can, Rogue enters the room, having tracked down Cooper to sort out her problems with the government.
Val learns from the Wraith disguised as Phil that they intend to take over the world.
Rogue kills one of the Wraiths and Val is forced to shoot the alien posing as her dead colleague in the head.
As Val flees, Rogue strikes the last Wraith with her bare fist absorbing some of its memories
and she is instantly, violently disgusted by the vile alien thoughts she has absorbed.
This is detected by the Professor in New York, who suffers a mild psychic backlash from trying to read the alien thoughts in Rogue's mind.
As Val tries to flee the scene, Rogue, under the influence of Dire Wraith's thoughts, attempts to "replace" Val,
however only succeeds in absorbing some of her memories with her mutant powers before she stops herself.
She ends up absorbing all the plans that the Department of Mutant Affairs have
been plotting and how their Neutralizer stripped Storm of her powers. Horrified,
Rogue flees the scene vowing to make the government pay if Storm was badly hurt and leaves to reunite herself with her fellow X-Men.

While back at Forge's home, Storm prepares to have a supper with Forge and decides to try on a dress he had delivered for her.
When both become nervous over their emerging feelings, Storm changes into something more comfortable.

As they are eating, Storm hears a thunderstorm outside and Forge turns on the buildings holographic projector to show her.
She is upset by this and Forge turns it off. Storm then confides in him about her recent changes from a “weather goddess”
to a darker and adventure seeking personality and how this recent change has affected her as well.

The two share a kiss, finally letting their emotions come forward. Their supper is interrupted when the phone rings.
When Forge answers it he tells Storm that it's business and leaves to take the call in another room.
Storm decides to take this as a moment to call the X-Men on the other line and tell them that she is okay.
She accidentally picks up the line that Forge is on and overhears Henry Gyrich telling Forge about how Rogue has been sighted.
She overhears them talking about the Neutralizer and Storm learns that Forge was the one who invented it.

Storm screams and tries to flee the building. Hearing her, Forge tries to follow after her to explain.
Rushing through his home, the holographic projector switches to a simulation of the Vietnam conflict.
Storm is disorientated and cannot find her way around and in a panic calls out to her goddess to help her.
Just then a lightning bolt strikes the side of Forge's building blasting open a wall to the outside balcony.
Storm rushes out there where Forge finally confronts her.
He tries to explain to her that the Neutralizer was not meant to be used the way it was and that he was only doing his job.
She refuses to believe him, and when he tells her that he too is a mutant,
she is horrified that one of her own kind could create a device against mutants.
She lashes out at him, rejecting his offers to help and cure her.
She punches him in the face, knocking him down and tells him that he's sold out of his race
and that he lives in his tower alone and unaware of how his indifference effects those around him.
She leaves, telling him that while her feet may never leave the ground again, she will someday fly again.

    X-Factor #45 Oct 1989
Judgement War! Part 3 of 7. "Arena!"
    Continued from last issue...

Archangel, believed to be one of this alien world's Rejects, has been forced to enter
an arena where the Chosen force Rejects to engage in gladiatorial combat and place bets.
Archangel is the "property" of Lord Rask, a Chosen nobleman who stands to gain great wealth from the coming battle should Archangel win.
Warren refuses to fight, however his opponent the Reject named Agrom has no such compunctions as he only wishes to survive.
He attacks Warren savagely, however the winged mutant only defends himself. When Warren refuses to fight,
the Chosen unleash a swarm of devices called Goads -- devices that when attached to a being, ramps up their aggressions.
This forces Warren to fight and easily defeat Agrom in combat. During the fight, some of the Goads get knocked off Warren
and when the audience cheers for him to kill Agrom, Warren refuses to do so.
When he attempts to escape by flying out of the arena, a forcefield prevents him from doing so.

Princess Seera, witnessing the fight, becomes even more confused over her feelings for
the Archangel -- finding him noble and majestic which goes against the Chosen's contempt for the Rejects.
Rask makes a killing in the bets, and when he sneers at Lev and Bobby, Iceman becomes angry for being treated as a second class citizen
due to the fact that he is thought to be a Dueler, and is determined to get into a fight with Rask until Lev calms him down enough.
Witnessing this, Seera notes that she has never seen Bobby before and wonders if Archangel's claims of being
from another world is where this "Dueler" and the strange baby that she now has in her possession came from.
In wondering about the baby, she wonders where it's mother might be.

Marvel Girl is a prisoner of the Rejects, who since being attacked by a Jammer, has been in a catatonic state.
When the guards go in to check on her, they doubt much success in her being able to recover from the attack.
Elsewhere in the Reject village, Beast -- unaware that MG is the captive of the Rejects -- helps
Zharkah go through scavenged supplies and find items that they can use for Whilge's coming baby.
They are soon alerted that Whilge is giving birth at that moment and go to her side to witness the moment.

When Hank refers to child birth as a miracle, Zharkah corrects him that on this bleak world a birth is more
of a tragedy as even if the newborn child manages to live, it will live in a world of constant war and strife.
Almost in response to this Whilge's horrified when her newborn child dies suddenly.
Soon a funeral service is quickly organized and performed for the late Zheopah, and her body is put ablaze on a funeral pyre.
When Beast suggests that they use technology to try and improve the genetic defects in the Rejects,
Zharkah becomes suspicious of the Beast and tells him that such uses of technology is forbidden as it is what the Chosen use to reproduce.

While at the citadel of the Chosen, Princess Seera breaks into the breeding labs,
using her Jamming powers to mask her presence so that she can steal nutrient to take back to young Christopher Summers.
Along the way through the sewers she runs into a guard who has come to investigate the "blankness" surrounding the area.
Not wishing to get caught, she attacks him with her Jamming ability
but fears she has used them too strongly and alerted others of her presence.
As she flees the scene to avoid capture she wonders why the Chosen have
not trained themselves to use their powers for anything other than combat.
She returns to her quarters to find that young Christopher is crying,
however the child's tears subside when she feeds him the nutrient.
She has decided that at the first opportunity she must move the child out of the city.

With the little boy in her arms, Seera marvels at the possibility that this is a child from another world
and wonders that if she were ever to meet the boys parents, would she be able to give the child back.

Cyclops meanwhile exits the cave of the Beginagains with Dykon where Gammenon is once more on the planets surface outside their cave.
As they watch the giant Celestial, Scott reiterates his need to find his missing friends, and Dykon reminds Scott
of the conflict between the Rejects and Chosen and the Beginagains' desire to reunite both peoples to save their planet.
Dykon, suggests that with Cyclops's help, they may be able to do just that.

While back at the home of the Rejects, Zharkah announces that young Nikoh
has developed his Reject born abilities, the power to light things on fire.
When word about the "Reject" Archangel's victory in the arena word returned to the village by spies Beast
tells the gathered Rejects that Archangel is a member of his "tribe", X-Factor and rallies them to plan an attack on the Chosen's city.
As Beast and the others rush off to make plans, Zharkah watches the scene with increasing suspicion.

Back in the Chosen's citadel, Iceman and Lev pit their powers together and Bobby gloats that the only way Lev was
able to "defeat" him in battle previously was due to the fact he was caught off guard from a supposed Jammer attack.
When he traps her in a block of ice, he gets her to yield, however she still believes that she can beat him in combat.
When Lord Rask enters the room and mocks them for being Duelers, Bobby stands up to this and challenges Rask to a duel.
In a one-on-one fight, Iceman manages to defeat Rask by knocking the lord down and pinning his arms down with ice.
With the victory, Lev wins a hardy wager and Rask then challenges Iceman to go up against the "Reject" champion, Archangel.
Bobby accepts this challenge, however he feels uneasy when he learns that Lev bet money that she doesn't have on the fight.

While in the dungeons Archangel revives to find that Agrom is still alive and is surprised.
He begins to tell Agrom about how he was transformed into the Archangel
and manipulated by someone and that his wings have a mind of their own.
He also tells the Reject that he has made a vow never to be controlled by anyone
ever again and swears that once he is freed himself he will destroy all the Chosen.
Unknown to Warren his words are being monitored by Seera who has used her jamming powers to sneak into the monitoring room.
She is worried that Archangel is poised to fight his friend from another world, and wonders what she can
do to help him, and considers that if she does anything to free him, he might destroy her entire kingdom.

I still contend that it was choreographed/just all around put together poorly, which doesn't have anything to do with who's in the scene. The scene could have had 100 Rocket Raccoon clones come together and still would have left me being critical.

    "The Dane Curse"
As the remaining X-Men bury their recently deceased teammate Storm, a call is received by the base's computer.
The call is from the missing Lorna Dane, a.k.a. Polaris, asking for help.

The X-Men investigate the call, leading them to Punta Arenas, Chile.

Upon arrival, the X-Men witness Polaris being kidnapped by warriors from the Savage Land,
led by Zaladane and her Savage Land Mutates. Reaching a stalemate,
the X-Men offer to allow Zaladane's forces to withdraw with their captive,
if only the innocent people of Punta Arenas are left alone.

Zala accepts and she and her forces leave, failing to notice that one soldier in her army is none other than the disguised Havok.

Easy hypothetical explanation: some entity (or maybe even Wanda herself) planted subliminal suggestions in the women's minds to team-up, and we'll know who it was later on.

    Uncanny X-Men #250 Oct 1989
    "The Shattered Star" Guest-starring Ka-Zar
Zaladane and her forces return to Antarctica and their towered fortress in the Savage Land.

Havok reveals himself only to be captured. Bound and drugged to prevent him
from using his powers, he is forced to watch as Zaladane steals the powers of Polaris.

Dazzler, Colossus and Psylocke arrive on the scene and are immediately ambushed by the Savage Land Mutates.
After the X-Men are captured, they are brought before Zaladane.
Polaris, to everyone's surprise, begins to manifest new powers of strength and invulnerability.
Swiftly, she frees the rest of the X-Men and other prisoners who revolt against Zaladane.

With the tower in flames, the X-Men flee the fortress in a sky-sled,
only to realize that Zaladane is still alive and has activated the tower's defensive shields.
Before the X-Men can decide their next move, they are teleported back to their base in Australia by Gateway,
much to the concern of Psylocke who experienced the X-Men’s death in a precognitive vision.

The comicbook character STORM being depicted in the comics as being capable as a fighter and leading the X-Men without powers was Chris Claremont's point..
