Haven't watched any of the modern DC movies; I hear Aquaman is good?

I'd say it's the best (non Animated) DC film to date.

There's still some issues ... (Black Manta), but it's fun for the duration. Mera particularly, being an amusing mix of Black Widow, and the Scarlet Witch.

To be honest, I'm pretty meh on the whole lot of live action superhero movies in general. Marvel certainly does it better, but with one or two exceptions, I find they all sort of blend together in one big slurry for me, so I only watch a few.

Ragnarok certainly stood out.

Well, you'll like Aquaman then.

It's pretty much the Ragnarok formula to a tee give or a take. There's a reason I call the DCU Aquaman "Water Thor".
