    Default Doctor Stange vs Superman

I have always wondered what would happen if these two met and fought. Doctor Strange is the most powerful magic user there is and Superman is weak against magic. So would this even be a contest or would Superman overpower the good doctor before he got a spell off.

Classic Strange's autoshields mean there's a chance of a different outcome, but most versions of Strange are turned to paste in the first nanosecond of the fight.

Superman isn't so much as weak to magic as he has no special resistance to it.

For instance, Kryptonite actually weakens Superman and can kill him.

Magic (on its own) generally affects Superman the same as it would affect anyone else.

With Superman's speed at the sound of the bell Strange is down before the ringing dies away. If it's to the death a heat vision blast before Strange can even twitch.

Depends on the version of Superman and Strange. Current Supes against Current Strange: Strange is a smear of paste and bonedust at the bell. Post-Crisis Supes against Classic Strange? Strange's casual-planet-buster-tanking autoshields means he can take the diistinctly non-planet-bustery Superman. Pre-Crisis Superman is a question, as he was often written as EXPLICITLY weak to magic: like it actually made him soft.

As mentioned, the question is if Kent can brute force through the passive/automatic protective spells before Strange does anything creative. If so, squishing happens. If not, Kent needs to be fast and clever for him lest be be bound/transmuted/dimension-dumped/etc.

Strange has all manner of auto-targeting stuff that can fill the arena AND catch people moving at ridiculous speeds. If Clark can't get through the autoshields (assuming it's a version of Strange that has autoshields), he's up the creek.

Basically, if it's Classic Strange, Clark is probably hosed (there's a viable argument that Pre-Crisis Clark can easily bust through them, assuming that there isn't a 'Magic! Oh noes!' problem). If it's any version of Strange who is weaker or who is lacking autoshields, Clark should win via blitz.

Are Strange's autoshields good enough to stop Nu/Rebirth Clark? You're probably talking about something approaching a Gladiator level blitz (lower speed but higher strength) and withstanding a blitz of strength that treats benching planets like a joke seems like a lot.

If NuClark is strong enough to overcome shields that treat planets exploding on them like...'well, that was convenient for propulsion', then he can take this. ^_^

We're those auto shields? Using it for propulsion seems like he had prep.

The shields were a normal bubble-type shield in the art. That's it. No incantations, no discussion of using specific protection, nothing.

This actually matches up fairly well with Strange's normal shields requiring at least some effort for Furnace Face to bust, him being fine operating in the area of a black hole, and him having to resort to something waaay stronger against stuff like supernovas going boom in his face, the Sentry/Void, etc.

To further detail the situation, the prep involved Strange going out in Astral form, using the Eye of Agamotto to locate 'weak points' in the planet, then basically pressure pointing the planet into exploding by using nothing more than Bolts of Bedevilment (in his astral form, which is explicitly weaker with magic).

He then zipped back into his body (Astral travel is FAST - like, ridiculously so, flying through the planet in seconds and to the Sun in less than a minute) in time for the planet to go kablooie, propelling him through space.

Strange: I went forward in time... to view alternate futures. To see all the possible outcomes of the coming Rumble.

Quill: How many did you see?

    Strange: 14,000,605.

Stark: How many did you win?

    Strange: One. With autoshields.
