Well at this point, honestly even if the story ends up bad, it's worth it for the designs. Pretty much all of the characters involved look pretty cool in their redesigned outfits. Except X-23.

The second month orders of UXM are decent, but the reorders for #1-3 don't show that retailers were off on their estimates. We will see better how retailers reacted to actual sales with January's orders. If they remain between 50K-60K that it pretty good for a weekly. The only worry is if the ending (if readers stuck through) disappointed. A lot of people skip annuals and $7.99 for an issue 11 is quite a lot especially when the previous story is continuing in 5 (6?) minis. We are going to find out just how much a Wolverine/Cyclops team-up can sell on the cover alone.

Yeah, $8 for that annual is more than a bit WTF?! That's half the price of the eventual UXM 11-15/16 trade, maybe more if you pre-order off Amazon or another big site.

Don't jinX it! But yeah, if nothing else, at least visually it should be an absolute delight.

I think it's entirely possible AoXM Alpha may outperform Disassembled's last issues, even the finale. Logan & Scott will likely prove their worth w/Uncanny, as well. It's hard to say with the annual, due to the things you mention. It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure. Hoping for the best, for everything involved, in all respects.

Not exactly related to December's sales, but interesting so far as the whole conversation about digital goes:

Marvel has released its annual list of the most popular comics read through its digital subscription service Marvel Unlimited.

    ...

When it comes to the most-read comic series, the X-Men took over. Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1, which ran from 1963 to 2011, was the top series in 2018. Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1, the Ultimate Universe reboot of the character from the early 2000s, was the second most-read series. The second volume of Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2, which ran from 1999 to 2013, rounded out the top three most-read series.
But, as always, that still leaves the question about whether Marvel looks at an audience essentially consuming all-you-can-eat digital back-issues as something to take into account when it comes to franchise popularity, or if it's just extra money.

Cool! If they're smart, they'd realize that one = the other.
