As well as a new costume. Honestly, this is the main reason why I couldn't get behind his latest solo series. The color scheme, the clunky looking wings, felt it was a step down from his Captain America days. I never thought it was that big of a deal. Especially in comparison to repeated negative treatment of Sam in that series.

Vampire Redwing was one of Remender's good plays because now we never have to worry about how old the bird is.

I think the age thing could have easily been solved in other ways. The Red Skull used the Cosmic Cube to link Sam and Redwing. It wouldn't take much to establish that link extends to more than just communication. Binding Redwing to Sam's life span seems like a no brainer.
