So how many seasons will we need to see that NY made a Giant mistake taking Jones instead of Haskins?
I'd say by their third season the latest. (of course we don't even know if Jones can be a pro QB)

The really important question isn't going to be how many seasons before we see that, but how many seasons before the Giants see it.

Considering the Giants still think Eli is at the top of his game, it could be a long time before Big Blue realizes their mistake.

The NY Giants are thinking like what Arizona, Buffalo and Washington are. Lets draft a young QB ; let the veteran lead the team a season then turn things over. Arizona finally was so bad they destroyed Rosen quick because Bradford and that offense was god awful last year. So that project was scrapped after 1 season as we saw as did Buffalo the same way. Washington really wants Haskins to sit awhile and hope McCoy or Keenum at least hold Haskins off awhile.

Haskins maybe the best NFL ready QB but Washington wants things ready for him and to learn some NFL things 1st. Its just if they have patience or if injuries hit does he get pushed in ?

NY has to hope Eli has this season left in him. Jones had been talked about as a possible pick by New England before the draft at one point. That he did get a look from Bill Belichick and he'd have been a late 1st or 2nd rd pick more than likely. Where he was projected. Its just ...NY got scared he wouldn't be there later for that and got scared Washington would want him. (a fact the GM said they had eyes on Haskins the whole way and hoped NY wouldn't select him).

Honestly this is a bigger risk than Mahomes when he went so early. Teams were scared of Mahomes and with Jones he has to wow them in season #2. And even then after being projected as a late 1st rd pick ; he will have even more pressure too. He's in the biggest media market and was selected so early. Haskins if he takes off big then Jones selection will haunt NY if he doesn't have an even better career.

Maybe we'll hear about the QB they drafted once or twice... it's Why Your Team Sucks: The New York Giants

Ryan: "We drafted the second coming of Barry Sanders and will do to Saquan Barkley what the Detroit Lions did to Sanders for 10 years, until Saquan announces his early retirement because Daniel Jones never panned out and Eli still hasn’t retired."
Zack: "Daniel Jones looks like the actor they’d cast to play Eli Manning in a movie about Peyton Manning’s life."
Rich: "We traded our best player in decades for nothing because he was supposedly a locker room cancer. Meanwhile, it takes weeks to drop Josh Brown after he beat up his wife; Kyle Lauletta can’t beat out Eli’s desiccated corpse to get into a game, and was arrested for leading the police on a car chase; and one of our safeties nearly killed someone. Our coach can only call one of 2 plays on every down: 1) run it up the middle with Saquon; or 2) throw it to Saquon 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I can only hope we pull a Cardinals and trade Danny Jones for peanuts next year and use our likely #1 pick to draft an actual talented QB."

the really funny thing is they passed on Sam Darnold and Haskins. How many top QBs are they going to get a crack at?

A talented QB is not going to save the NY Browns from their own penchant for self destruction.

Speaking of offensive line play, expect a lot more plays to be called back for offensive holding this year especially early in the season, as the NFL has made offensive holding a point of emphasis this season...

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ive-holding-19

    from the article..

Offensive holding will be a significant point of emphasis for NFL officials this season, raising the possibility of a spike in penalties as players adjust to elevated rule enforcement.

According to guidance released over the weekend, existing rules on holding "will be more strictly enforced this season, particularly on the backside of the run play or line of scrimmage." Referee Adrian Hill, who visited the Chicago Bears training camp Monday, said the league is trying to eliminate a technique sometimes known as the "lobster block," where offensive linemen grab defenders around the torso or shoulders to prevent them from flowing to the play from the backside.

"Certain teams do it," Hill said, "and [the league] is trying to basically legislate it out of the game."
    ...

In recent history, NFL points of emphasis have often produced an increase in flags during the preseason and early in the regular season. Last season, a one-week point of emphasis on offensive holding led to 94 such flags, 42% more than in any week since at least 2012.
I expect to see a lot of laundry flying, a lot of offensive lineman holding their hands out wondering why they were called, and a lot of 1st and 2nd and 20 plays for the first quarter of the season or so.

Its such an idiotic move. The league decides to try and protect QBs and now they want to make sure defenders can get through the line to get to the QB.

Miami had already signed an offensive line coach who helped the Colts craft a really solid offensive line in 2018. They promoted him to that spot. Which makes you wonder why they didn't give him that position to start with.
