The majority of owners are rich, white, a-hole Trump supporters. Do we need to look further?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

That's a lot of breath holding. I like Wentz but he's lost so much time already very early on in what you would hope to be a long career. I'd hope they've sturdied up that O-line from last season cause it's gonna be a short ride if Wentz can't string at least a dozen consecutive quarters together out the gate. The East is as weak as it's been in since Eli came in and you'd think Philly would moonwalk their way through the Skins, Giants and Jerruh's.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?

The fact that Nathan Peterman is suiting up at the ready in professional football tells you what you need to know. Mind you this is affording Daniel Jones #1 pick status, the biggest benefit of the doubt as humanly possible.

Teams are afraid of media attention and someones reaction. In years from now they will admit they were wrong to do this.
I wouldn't bet the mortgage on that.

Jeff Lurie (Eagles) isn't a Trump supporter, but he's steering clear of Kaepernick like all the rest.

Thats fair. But they'll only admit it off the record. It really comes down to the colossal distraction he was from all things football. Tough situation because it is wrong and Kaep would be a good QB for many of the teams out there. But its still a league where owners are supposed to control the message instead of the players.

Jon Gruden is creaming himself over Peterman as we speak right now. Bragging up his ability to look great in preseason. Then comically will piss off his starting QB to a point he gets benched during the season ; Peterman comes in and throws like 10 Int's in 2-3 weeks to complete the Peterman Experience.

Owners rarely get interviewed in pieces like this though. Its gonna be GM's of tomorrow looking back and questioning the behavior of the GM's who needed to improve their team and instead did comical moves like deciding Cody Kessler was a better alternative or Josh Johnson . All to appease someone special from throwing media attention on them.

Yeah but the NFL owners are a miserable bunch of robber barons and trust fund babies that nobody would ever miss if they disappeared forever. Most of them are as clueless about football as they are about social issues, and you'd be hard pressed to find a single one that actually made a meaningful contribution to growing the game. The antics of Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder are clearly distractions to their teams, why isn't there a mechanism to replace them with people who can just sign checks without making noise?

How are these not legitimate concerns? Its easy for you who doesn't have a financial stake in the team to be on a high horse but the owners and team execs have to keep the team profitable. That means fans buying tickets and merchandise.

Any team that signs Kaepernick will suffer a massive fan revolt. If he was a superstar who would help them win they would keep him. Just like the Chiefs are keeping Tyreek Hill despite what he did because he's a superstar. If Tyreek Hill was 2nd or 3rd string backup he'd be cut and no team would touch him.

And the media attention thing is real. I'll keep bringing up Tim Tebow. Great guy, great teammate. He had a huge following and he actually brought in merchandise sales above and beyond what most players do. But he was as big a media distraction as you can get. He'd still be in the league today and maybe even a serviceable starter if not for the media distractions. Teams won't put up with this kind of distraction unless your a superstar ala Tyreek Hill.

But at best Kaepernick gives you an experienced backup and those are a dime a dozen out there in the free agent market. Teams are going to roll with youth or less polarizing figures for backup spots.

Except it will probably be Mike Glennon as the backup. Peterman in all likelihood will be cut or put on the practice squad.

Again teams are signing domestic abusers to contracts and taking the same distraction and going , "Oh they deserve a chance..to reform.." At this point Tyreek Hill is on very shaky ice . The team already stopped from paying a $100 million . They clearly pulled that and now control his fate for 2-3 seasons. That is if he gets in trouble legally his ass likely gets cut. (And remember Kansas City sent Kareem Hunt who had tons of talent packing once he admitted he lied to the Chiefs)

I could have gone team to team and pointed out how half the guys you brought up are just preseason rosters spots who won't make the team. But the Saints is where it shows how delusional you are about Kaepernick.

Your right on Hill, he's a project guy but they like him and his do everything skill set.

Bridgewater though was a projected future superstar in the making before he tore up his knee. The only worries about him are rust and his knee holding up. The Saints clearly envision him as their QB of the future should Brees get hurt or retire. As they should.

There is an old saying about Jon Gruden during his time in Tampa , "Jon Gruden never saw a QB he didn't fall in love with..." Gruden has a knack for falling in love with a QB right off the bat and sabotaging his starter in quick fashion. Its why people started joking right when he started bragging Peterman he was gonna ruin the starter with this .

    Repeat after me: STAR PLAYER.

Kareem Hunt, one of those domestic abusers, was one of the top RB's in the league. Being a star player gets you second chances. It may not be fair but its reality. Kaepernick hadn't been a star player for a couple of seasons and his glory days disappeared with Jim Harbaugh and the read option offense.

Yes they are watching Hill but he's still on the team because he's a superstar. If his name was Byron Pringle or Marcus Kemp (bubble WR's on the Chiefs this year) he'd be a free agent and no other team would touch him.

BTW you brought up how some teams still run it - they run it on some plays. In the glory Kaep years the 49ers ran it most plays and good for them. It was effective at the time just like the Wildcat was effective for about two seasons. Now you only see occasional read option plays just like you only now see occasional wildcat plays. When Kaep had to start running a conventional offense where he had to read the defense and move beyond his first read he struggled because he is an inaccurate QB who struggles to read defenses.

Well Sean Payton pretty much said this wasn't exactly true himself as he in 2018 admitted he would have drafted a 1st rd QB in 2017. In fact he told a year ago had the Chiefs not traded up in the 1st rd to get Pat Mahomes he was prepared to draft him and let him learn a few seasons under Brees. He was traded for a 3rd round pick in 2018 after the NY Jets barely had him over the summer and gave up on him. This is the friggen JETS...giving up on a QB. (This is after the Vikings gave up on him and didn't let him start in 2017).

Bridgewater even when he was healthy for 2 seasons didn't set the world on fire either in 2014/2015. Its not like he had 2 huge seasons and an injury ruined that. He never threw over 14 TD's in those seasons.

Get ready for mentions of things that occur in West Virginia pub bathrooms... it's... "Why Your Team Sucks: The Pittsburgh Steelers"

    From the Steelers fans:

Jim: "They got fleeced on the Antonio trade by Jon freaking Gruden. That’s like the US losing a ground war against the KISS Army."
Mickey: " This team has been owned lock, stock, and barrel by the Patriots since the day Brady was drafted. For the last several years, we have employed a triumvirate of elite, potential Hall Of Fame talent at the WR, RB, and QB spots. When frustrations bubbled over, when the money and spotlight became too much to spread between them, we decided to side with the most-expensive, least-talented, least-time-left of the three: a fat, immobile, white QB twice credibly accused of sexual assault and a proven s*** leader of men.

Our head coach has overstayed his welcome by at least 5 years. He couldn’t motivate a starving dog to eat a steak.

In their twilight years, we treated team legends like Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, James Harrison, Dick LeBeau, and more like disposable dog ****. Polamalu has yet to show his face at any team event since. The only franchise that has done less with the massive amount of talent that’s come through their locker room in the last 25 years is Green Bay. This team treads water like a f***ing Olympic synchronized swimming team."

DH: "We let Brown and Bell go, presumably so we could continue to pander to an aging quarterback whose inability to read a defense is matched only by his unwillingness to seek consent."
Amanda: "Kevin Colbert basically said in the offseason Ben Roethlisberger has free rein to do whatever he wants. Not sure why the GM feels the need to tell the media and fans that a man twice accused of rape is untouchable within the organization. As if we didn’t all get that message after rape accusation #2."
Sean: " My veteran father was running a “Welcome Home” for local Iraq/Afghan War vets. He reached out to the Steelers and asked players to attend and meet the veterans at the airport as a surprise. A lot of players agreed! Big Ben asked for a large sum of money, and then declined when the VA of Pittsburgh wouldn’t pay his demands.

A relative was part of the surgery team when he broke his already be-f***ed nose in that bike crash. Before they applied anesthesia, he used his last conscious words to threaten everyone in the room with a lawsuit if he didn’t like the outcome.

I saw him at Marios on the Southside once and asked for a picture. He agreed but only if my girlfriend sat on his lap."
