Close to 245 Million Worldwide https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies...xmarvel18b.htm
Given the budget and then Marketing this film lost a lot of money probably in the 100 million neighborhood.
Speaking of Box Office Fox moved this to June to save Alita from bombing in December and knew that putting Dark Phoenix in that date was a disaster waiting to happen. They attempted to cover it up.
I think this is what John Campea meant when he said they didn’t know what to do with the movie and that it was a disaster waiting to happen.
Fox straight up abandoned movie. I got to respect Disney and Marvel for trying to marketing it when they didn’t really have it. Kinberg seems to have a good relationship with them.
Yes, I always thought the moving of the original date was a disaster move, months before they did it.
Most people at the theatres were unaware who/"what" is Dark Phoenix. I know most of the people I spoke to waiting in line had no idea.
Just watched this video from special features of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Makes me wonder when Xavier altered her memories.
This is a test scene. To test the actors chemistry. This was never supposed to be part of a movie. This is just their own random backstory for the Jean character they were going to use to see how Sophie could navigate the dialog and emotions, and how Tye would look on screen with her. It does show they were already ignoring the Annie Richardson origin even pre-Apocalypse.
Let the flames destroy all but that which is pure and true!
I don’t know understand why they didn’t call the movie “X-Men: Phoenix”. Calling it Dark Phoenix is misleading since never actually becomes evil in this movie.
Here is what Chris Claremont would have done post-DOFP. No more prequels.
My understanding was that dropping the "X-Men" part was to signal that this was Jean's movie, not a team movie (e.g. like how Civil War was titled as part of the Captain America series even through it could've easily been called an Avengers movie and no one would've raised an eyebrow). As for calling it "Dark Phoenix," well, it does indicate which story it's adapting and Jean does go evil; she's just able to pull herself back before she's completely lost.
There were no prequels after Days of Future Past; just sequels.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."
