This already looks like it's gonna be a much better pay-off than the PR mini-series, which in my opinion, was rather disappointing after waiting 14 long years for her to return. Judging by issue #1 of XMR, Taylor seems to have nailed Jean's characterization, voice, etc. more-so than Rosenberg did during PR so I'm relieved he's going to be filling in the blanks rather than allowing Rosenberg to take charge of the reigns this time.

Agree. I had hope, and Faith in Rosenberg. But Phoenix Resurrection was a disappointment for me;
Taylor nailed it perfectly, and Red is way better.

There's a panel I don't Get : Dead Jean in Scott's arms. Is it supposed to be a short flashback ? Why Scott is not wearing is New X-Men suit ? Why Beast isn't in his Tony The Tiger form ?
And I don't like the artist's take on Jean. She looks old.

Anyway, again, jean as Phoenix is on the cover, even if she's not Phoenix anymore. I guess Marvel prefer to have Phoenix thats plain Jean on the cover.

Excited for this and appreciate the interview. It's interesting how Taylor said Jean isn't carrying on Xavier's legacy so much as forming her own. In a sense, this is like the old adage of the student passing the teacher.

I think we're seeing a sort of mish mash of Jean's thoughts as everything she's learned about the world in her absence kinda of jumbles together. The pencils of her by herself look like they're of her in her X-Red uniform.

For me the art is decent esp for an annual. Can’t wait for Jean to catch up on things and meeting old and new friends.
