This is ultimately why Bendis' run was a failure, after all this time we still don't really know Jean any better than we did when she first showed up. Jean's usually depicted as a fairly down to earth person but she actually became less and less so as this series went on.

Excellent artwork, but I have to ask why is Jean the only one shown struggling on the cover when she's arguably the strongest one there!!!!

In an interview G WW said she doesn't like the whole phoenix jean scott nonsense, or that she finds it confusing, so I guess she doesn't feel the urge to use jean at her full potential. Or maybe just the worf effect, to show how powerful the enemy is make it one shot the strongest character

When Jeen was kidnapped by the Shi'ar sure the others eventually showed up -- but, it was Jeen who mopped the floor with several of Imperial Guard and literally torpedoed Gladiator without any help from her would-be rescuers. Oh, wait... You did said private life didn't you? Well in Jeen's defense (sans Rachel and arguably Nathan), her entire family was executed -- I'd be hard pressed at this point to say that shes developed enough of a private life for a solo book -- unless that's the purpose of the solo.

Jeen's hobby seems to be telepathic eavesdropping.

Bendis has done a wonderful job of showing us that Jeen is the type of person who is more than willing to forget all the 'with great power comes great responsibility' and 'absolute power corrupts absolutely' lessons she's experienced since ANXM #1. She's completely fine with being a 'nosy bitch' and using her powers however she wants with no regard for anyone else's privacy.

Yeah, sorry to go back there but it genuinely annoys me.

Actually that's what I've enjoyed the most about jeen, you have power , use it anyway you want, but deal with the consequences. Kitty gave her the power responsibility speech but she has to learn that on her own, or maybe never learn it, I'd be fine with it.

You still mad over Teen Bobby "hesitantly" having to admit to Jeen that he's gay? What's the point of being a telepath if you don't exercise your powers -- It's not like Jeen telepathically announced his sexual preference to the entire world.

Your entitled to be annoyed. The Church of Jeenus won't hold it against you.

If Bendis genuinely likes the character as he professes to, why even do that storyline? It's not really that interesting nor is it anywhere near a resolution, the only purpose it really seems to serve is to fill up pages when he has no ideas for actual content to take up that space.

Also, please refrain from referring to Jean as a bitch in this thread.

I was simply repeating Iceboi's half-joking reference to Jeen from the issue where he was outed/she outed him.

If "Outing" is the act of "disclosing" a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender person's sexual orientation or gender identity (to another and or others) without that person's consent -- To whom did Jeen "Out" Bobby?

I'm just irritated when I hear that word now, not because it may be offensive, but because it sounds so silly and juvenile. And this is coming from someone who used to not be able to complete a sentence without saying it at least once.

She outed him to herself first via her telepathy, then confronted him with the knowledge she effectively stole about his sexuality.

It's silly that we're even still talking about this. Secret Wars is supposed to have a million different alternate universes or something like that and Jean doesn't have a decent role in any of them, and she got the Phoenix stolen from her yet again. When are we going to get a Jean Grey story worth talking about?

If you say so... But, for the record your description of the situation doesn't seem to match the technical definition IMO.

Perhaps, Bendis felt that Jeen being kidnapped by the Shi'ar and put on trial for planetary genocide (again ) was "spotlight" enough for the time being?
