A very hard choice since I love a lot of those characters. I ended up picking vixen because I think she has potential to be one of DC's leading ladies.

This is very useful, finally getting around to looking through this to update the list. I'm probably gonna cherry pick the most prominent and most interesting ones but the TV/Cartoon stuff is definitely gonna be useful in putting a list together for the black DC heroes outside the comic book medium. good looking out!

If Isaiah King/Despot is in the villains, then his son, Jackson King/Battalion, former leader of Stormwatch, should be in the heroes list.

That said, I'm not sure if Despot has ever been in a DC book, being a pre-DC Wildstorm character...

But if we are counting those characters that appeared in Wildstorm books before DC bought them, then Frostbite (from DV8) and Serge (occasional Backlash ally/Phantom Guard) could also be included.

I'm a huge fan of Serge, in particular. A gun-toting mercenary speedster? Heck yeah!

So Mystik U had this character named Pia Morales who is an afro-latina magician. I'd like to see this character appear again but would DC have an issue promoting her given she shares a race/ethnicity and last name with Miles Morales?

A very tough choice for me. I'll go with John Stewart with Vixen being a very close second followed by Cyborg.

Who do you guys think has the best chance of getting YA readers? My best bet would be Naomi with the push she's getting plus she not a legacy character.

currently? Naomi looks to be shaping up to be a major player for YA audiences, although Wallace is probably the most prominent young black character DC has right now tho. I personally think Duke Thomas and Power Girl/Tanya Spears could've been big names for DC's younger demo but DC's made it pretty clear they don't want to use those guys; and all the people in Milestone are off the table until they are wiped from everyone's memory. So Naomi and Wallace are probably the best bets, Naomi more so than Wallace.

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Whatever happened to Tanya? Last I saw her she was in Deathstroke trying to rescue the other Power Girl and everyone thought she was dead. That ever get resolved or is she essentially just dead now?
