Default Do you ever skip commenting on a thread because its gone on too long?

I'll be honest, even if its a topic in one of the forums that I'm really interested in discussing, I'll sometimes skip replying to it because its being going on too long. Its got 20+ pages of responses, and I feel I'm too late to the party and if i don't join early I'll just get lost.

    Anyone feel the same?

I depends if I can offer anything new. I mean I sometimes feel funny just agreeing with a dozen or so people.

Yes, I do. I also skip posts that are to long.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Yes. I laugh when a thread was just started yesterday and there are already 18 pages or more.

In the olden days, threads would get up to 18 pages in two hours

That's where I stand. I try to only say something someone else hasn't said.

(which ironically I've failed to do in this post)

Size doesn't put me off. I only read a few threads anyway but if it's a topic I have an interest in, or if the latest poster is someone I'm interested in hearing their view on, I will dive in and read the last few pages.

Wow, too many pages! I have seen the same thing posted with different wording in those instances.and if there is an ongoing posting topic, someone else comes in and just changes it, saying whatever they feel like (which I know is fine and the freedom we have on here--but it can and does throw off a good discussion).

Often because someone would post an unpopular opinion and a pile-on would ensue.
I remember arguments lasting for many pages over some of the dumbest things.

Giant blocks of text, free of appropriate spacing and punctuation are a huge turn off.

It depends. If it seems endlessly repetitive, yes. Or if there's some schmuck who says things like, "Didn't you read the thread. That question was answered 700 pages ago on page 412".

Are you arrogant and want people to see your posts?

Yeah, I tend to skip those threads. Especially the posts with hilariously huge walls & walls of texts.

This depends for me on how old the thread is. I like trying to revive seemingly dead conversations with new insight and takes from people who may not have seen the thread the first time. However, if it's a recent thread with a lot of attention I might just leave it alone.
