Marvel seems to really like Bachalo on issues of Spider-Man with the Lizard. He is one of my least favorite artists. Lizard is also one of my least favorite Spidey villains, so you can guess where this issue ranks for me.

I also think Bachalo’s art is often sloppy, poorly paneled and overall has a “Microsoft Paint” design quality to it. Often there are just random pieces of debris floating around in the panel in lieu of an actual background. His layouts on these past few issues of ASM have mostly looked incomplete. I can’t wait to get Ottley back.

Personally I think Bachalo’s art on these last two issues has been the best thing about this run of the title.

He definitely draws a unique Lizard.

Spencer proves once again he really digs continuity. Resolving the Ned Leeds clone plot line from Amazing Spider-man annual 42.

Yeah, his character designs for the Lizard / Connors family are one of the few things I like about CB’s artwork. It’s mostly the layouts and odd perspectives that don’t appeal to my tastes.

Generally not a fan of Bachalo's art for Spidey, although thought he was perfect on Dr Strange but have to say I loved the Taskmaster beat-down. Over the years I've seen the ability of a lot of artists to choreograph action sequences to be lacking. There is no flow from one panel to the next.

Okay, this issue does have great characterization, but as far as plot goes? Like I say in my review, a lot seems to happen even though not much actually does.

Depends what you mean by paneled. I feel he often cramps too much detail into too little space, but his sense of visual design in terms of layouts is heads above most comic artists, IMO.

Bachalo can be hit and miss sometimes. This issue for me was more miss.
But then I see a lot of people not enjoying Ottleys art and I think it’s perfect.

I'm a huge fan of Bachalo's work but personally feel his style is slightly more suited to a character like Doctor Strange, something with plenty of scope for fireworks and monsters and grand visuals. I'm not so sure about him working on a more street level kind of character like Spider-man - that being said, I do still like what he's doing with Spidey as well :-)
