    Default Forgotten Treasures

I'm rewatching Centennial. I was too young to understand how deep it was when I saw it as a kid. It's not sentimental about colonization, doesn't shrink from bigotry, but doesn't deny that civilizations have a lifespan. It's really good and really rich.

That said, nobody seems to remember it. What are some other forgotten treasures from TV or Cinema?

Dead Like Me doesn’t get talked about enough for my taste.

I kind of like unusual films that have a bit of a cult following like LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM, HAUSU, STREETS OF FIRE etc.

I'm not sure if they're quite 'forgotten' though. SOF in particular influenced a lot of late 80's anime and Japanese video games with it's kind of weird 'timeless' city that seems like a mix of the 50s and 80's (Probably Walter Hill's intention) and Jim Steinman music.

LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM is Ken Russell's film taking place in the British countryside with two men-a lord and an archaeologist-helping two sisters who run an inn deal with an immortal snake vampire priestess who killed their parents.

HAUSU is a Japanese haunted house feature film about a group of friends who visit their Aunt's house but she's an insane bereaved ghost (along with her cat) and basically controls the house and uses it to kill/consume them one by one. The film has the random, hyperactive humor that kind of reminds me of some anime comedies like NICHOUJO. Funny thing is it was originally intended to be the Japanese answer to JAWS.

NICHOJO (Comedy about a group of girls and their various slice-of-life adventures and those of their classmates; also a B-plot about a robot girl which eventually merges with the other storyline) itself was a flop in Japan but seems to have a fairly big Western following.

CAT's EYE, the anime series, used to be kind of obscure but lately has been sort of building itself up with appearances in Lupin III and City Hunter movies. However, no word on a new anime series.

I don't know that I ever saw Condorman. Enemy Mine was quite good, and if I'm not mistaken, a sci-fi reimagining of Hell In The Pacific

My favorite Bill Murray movie. And a lot of people I mention it to have never heard of it.

And a pretty good battle of the conmen movie.
