Considering how many enemies of Spider-Man are half animal, I don't get why is so wrong with turn him into a werelion or something like that.

And speaking of Verna's hounds, I don't understand why Silver Sable is included in them. I mean, all the others have at least animal topic (Kraven, Scorpion, Rhino, Puma...). But Sable does not. There are also Ox and Hammerhead, but those are just nicknames and they don't even have animal stuff.

Yeah, I thought the show had a good take on Kraven right up until they mutated him.

When it comes to the mutation in Spectaular...I think they simply did it too early. Does mutating himself into some sort of predatory big cat hybrid sound like Kraven would do? Absolutely, however I feel that he should have had a couple more losses before resorting to that. Unfortunately the plans regarding Kraven's mutation in that show (which were connected with John Jameson) never came into fruition so we didn't get to see the main plan regarding that. Interestingly, they wanted to use Sergei as early as episode 2 in the show, but Marvel or Sony felt that when it came to Kraven, Spidey needed some victories on his belt to gain enough notoriety for Kraven to want to hunt him...which makes a lot of sense.
