Comic Books: Your Favourite Decade

What is your favourite decade for comic books and why does it mean so much to you?

For me it's the 1980's, which was when I first started reading comics. The first two titles I remember buying were Uncanny X-Men (starting #174) and Legion of Superheroes (starting #282). Those teams were a big part of my teenage years and I still love reading the issues from that era now, downloaded digitally to my Kindle.

At the time I went on to collect lots of titles, including New Mutants, New Teen Titans, Alpha Flight, Fantastic Four, West Coast Avengers, Spider Man, Batman, Superman etc. and I recently got into Daredevil from the same period.

My interest had waned somewhat by the end of the decade and I've never really got back into comics in such a big way but over the last couple of years I've really enjoyed reading all those issues again.

1960s - Cheesy, corny but fun and wild
1970s - Not too sure to be honest
1980s - Probably the pinnacle of storytelling for me
1990s - Awful art but good developments
2000s - A lot of good stories
2010s - Probably one of my favourites due to the boom for independent comics

70's for me. Comics were .20-.25 cents.

I'm going to say the 80's. There were of course fun mainstream comics, but I also discovered the world of comics beyond Marvel/DC.

Completely based on nostalgia points, it's the '70s for me.

Went with the 2000s, as with others mostly just because it's when I became as active reader.

Comics evolved so much in the 80s - and those were my formative years, so I picked that.

That said, comics have continued evolving. I think every decade his improved on the one before - but that evolution has slowed a bit from that massive burst in the 80s.
