Post: He could tap into multiple animal powers at once and use it smart and it includes alien life and even sentient/sapient critters.

Nu 52: He was Champion of the Red But at the end of his short series he got upgrade from the being who “ Shepard’s” all life force in universe.

Literally.


He killed a giant by tapping his own super strength to chunk a rock through his skull.

With the upgrade he killed the corrupted lord of the red as a curbstomp fight.

Why a big deal: The Red are Gods who montior animal life, the corrupted one killed his fellows, drank their power so he would be a beast in said dimension of limbs ( Tripp’s yeah.)

The other life forces are Green ( Swampy) and The Rot ( control of death to keep life at bay. Arcane was evil champion here until his defeat when his cool niece and Swamp Things girl friend took over.)

Yeah Hawk Man is a bad ass.

But competent Animal Man is crazy lethal ( In Nun52, he pretty much kills al his enemies as they went after his family, big mistake.)

Also Animal Man is not as screwed up as Hawk Man. Though in Grant Moreison run in post crisis, he found out he was a comics character. By meeting Grant explaining it to him.

It is normally the case that writers do not know what to do with him.

But yeah he can basically tap into the powers of “any” living thing, not just Earthling critters when he is competent/channeling the red/ life seed thing.

If written maximum ability he has been shown to copy Living things. Not just animals but all living things.

Post Crisis: If Krypton is a thong, could have his powers.

Nu 52 life Seed jack: Yes. He could copy Supes and Martian Manhunter And so forth, has to be around them but he was power jacking humanoid beings within viewing distance.
