Yes that's been a plot element of almost every James Bond movie. There are two women in the movie, the one that gets killed and the one he has sex with at the end and then dumps for the next women in the next movie.

As to this Rey-like hatred of Captain Marvel based on nothing sight unseen, maybe it will become a youtube and Internet phenomenon and irrelevant unless you keep watching youtube hate videos like a moth to the flames.

From what I saw there's a sadist joyful glee to their idea of the film failing, as if this movie is a symbol and it's their duty to destroy it! As if it was a revenge ! The "not smiling enough" was just the beginning, brace yourself for some particularly injust critics, this movie seems to focus all the hate the internet crowd is capable of!
Yep. They've moved from the smiling thing (which was asinine as all heck), to worse stunts. I've seen a couple of YouTubers trying to tear it down by slandering that Captain Marvel Challenge charity and demonizing Brie Larson herself. Sad to say, I think the hate is just beginning.

I mean, how sick in the head do you have to be to attack a charity to score points with your fellow cultists? I'm really hoping the movie is a smash hit. Yeah, but what has me equally scratching my head are those Trek fans saying this is the first time a woman or POC had a leadership role or strong characters and see it as a victory.

Of course we know that Uhura and Sulu weren't able to do much because of Shatner and he felt he should be the star of the original Trek. But later we had characters like Tasha, a female security chief (before she was killed but that was because she left). A woman doctor in Beverly Crusher a wise and powerful woman of color in Guinan. We had a chief of engineering in Geordi and let us not for get the proud and confident Torres. Brilliant powerhouse 7 of Nine, Brilliant Powerhouse Jadzia Dax, tough freedom fighter turned second in command Kira (arguably the second most focused on character of Ds9 after you know who). Black Vulcan Tuvok and an Arab doctor in Bashir. You got to wonder at the time it was made what a ballsy move that was. Second in command Chakotay. Hell... I even enjoyed the female villains Ursa and Betor, Sela and their were many awesome Romulan women generals and captains. And last but not least the Captains Janeway and Sisko. Granted there are those that thought Voyager was the worst of the Treks but it still has a strong fanbase. Sisko was portrayed as a great leader and multifaceted character as well as a good father and a good boyfriend to the equally wonderful Kassiday Yates. We had a black space family and slowly but surely we were moving towards homosexuality with characters like Garak and Dax.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not wearing rose tinted glasses at all. Things could have still been better.

You know who didn't want this the most? The newer generation, not all of them of course there are those that love it too but their fewer. They thought that Star Trek was boring and for geeks. That's right. So we get a retread with Uhura back in a skirt and it being about chest beating and more than it was ever in TOS. People got what they wanted and now they are going to fix it when we could have been much further into the future with even more humanizing concepts. That's what I wanted to see. Most of us didn't want Abrams Trek. Yeah, I'm still pissed.

Yes, they will try to hack the Rotten Tomatoes score and harass Lashana Lynch because she's the black actress, just like this poor Kelly Mary Tran!
Let's be real! These Alt-Right Allumni have found their new crusade!
Their new crusade is ruining our movies, plain and simple, I just can't imagine the day the MCU will have a gay character!

There was a time when Star Trek was about something, that it had something to say about social issues, the human condition, etc. But for purposes of a multi-million dollar series of movies, it became nothing but glorying in it's own mythology.

Yes, there should be female characters that screw up or are just dumb or have to learn as they go along on the adventure.

And there should also be female characters that are basically omni-compotent, preferably without whiney people screaming "Mary Sue" all over the place. We have plenty of omni-compotent male heroes without people batting an eye. But show everybody one or two omni-compotent women and people lose it.

Yeah, not everything aged well, but they did try and, contrary to what the "SJW conspiracy" theory cultists pound out online, proved that so-called SJW-ism not only sells, but can become a piece of Americana. Whenever, I see those trolls whining about how Marvel or whatever is being destroyed by SJWism, I have to roll my eyes due to my Trekkie background.

I wasn't a fan of the first two movies but I did like Beyond. I did object to the action movie retool, but it was what it was. Besides, it was supposed to co-exist with the original stuff, and I, myself have reached the point where I can look at it as another branch of the franchise's multiverse that I don't have much investment in.

Haven't seen Lynch suffer yet, but who knows what will happen when the movie drops. Agree that the crusade seems to be shifting from the comics to the movies. Whether that's just because these cyberbullies are getting more radicalized in general or because their crusade against the comics failed and they're looking for another battle they think they can win, I don't know.

(Heck, just saw of the bullies in question post another smear campaign agains the movie hours ago. This is getting out of control.)
