I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.
Crimson Avenger during War of the Worlds.
GA Sandman and Crimson Avenger vs. Phantom of the Fair.
Batgirl on the way to a costume party.
Captain Marvel in the subway.
Tim Hunter's journey through DC's mystic landscape in the Books of Magic mini.

I like Green Lantern's. The dying alien and the ring selecting him.
Also Batman's is so simple and perfect. There's been little changes to it over the years but the story in Detective 33 has never really changed.
Another good one is Tim Drake's. A kid finding out who Batman is. What's Bruce gonna do, kill him? Kind of forces him to involve him in the crime fighting life even if Robin had just died not too long ago.
Thought of another good one. Booster Gold.
I love how he ties into the DC universe mythology with living in Metropolis, the Legion ring and Rip Hunter's Time Sphere (later discovered to be Rip Hunter's son) I think it's a neat story. Kind of an asshole, not the smartest superhero or the best. Bets on his own football games and gets caught. Gets a job at a museum. Goes to the 20th Century and becomes the greatest hero you've never heard of! Just a fun character and a fun origin.
Batman.
Dick Grayson.
Green Arrow.
Top Three.
Batman - Daredevil
Jessica Cruz struggling to control the Power Ring and eventually becoming a Green Lantern in her own right.
Batwoman, Kate Kane rebuilding her life and deciding to create her own independent version of Batman. I loved that she always has her own resources and at the beginning she rarely if ever had to rely on Batman for any support.
Easily Superman. Followed by him it's easily Batman. My answer isn't... creative, for lack of a better word, but I believe their strong origins play a big role in why they are DC's most successful and enduring heroes. It really says something that their origins are so ingrained in pop culture. None of the other DC heroes can boast that.
