#DCeased - Tom Taylor's Upcoming DC Project

After a day of dropping cryptic hints for an upcoming DC Comics project using the ominous hashtag #DCeased, writer Tom Taylor has revealed which major DC character will be meeting their untimely end in a final social media post.

As one final tease, Taylor revealed that the hinted death coming to the DC Universe would be Darkseid, the ruler of the New God world of Apokolips with the sentence "Darkseid was." The phrase is a past tense inversion of the villain's ongoing mantra "Darkseid is," created by writer Grant Morrison during his acclaimed JLA run in the 90s that posited the New God simply existed as the essence of evil itself, a personified force of nature. Since the phrase's introduction by Morrison, it has become ubiquitous with the iconic villain ever since, most recently appearing in Tom King and Mitch Gerads' Mister Miracle series last year.

Eh, Darkseid already died fairly recently so this is not particularly new.

Also, I'm not sure if I trust Taylor with New Gods material. I mean, he's a good writer but I don't think that's the kind of stuff he's good at.

Depends. If it's playing up from what's happening in JLO, where he wants to build a better and badder Apokolypse but also face off Perpetua, he may end being the lesser of two evils.

We all know this won't stick anyway. Darkseid died before. Recently. He came back. So yeah, let Taylor have his "shock value" story. It'll be invalidated in short order.

It looks like Darkseid's death has unleashed some sort of hate plague on Earth and now everyone is killing each other. If this is the angle Snyder is going for, I'm guessing that the JL will have to revive Darkseid to stop the people from killing each other.

I doubt this is canon or related to what Snyder is doing. Doesn’t look very interesting so far.
