Possible major changes coming from DC Comics

Bleeding Cool is reporting that DC may not only be making changes with upper management but with how they produce their comics. The parent company is telling them to decrease the number of titles to only 22. They may also be moving further away from the direct market.

Didn't BC also say Didio was no longer publisher due to the recent layoff? Seems like they have even less credibility than Dan Didio at this point.

Pretty much, 22 ongoings plus minis, maxis, event books, other imprint books. Not really much of a difference. All I see happening is all ongoings below the 20000 mark getting prepped for cancellation.

Not to be quite as extreme as MTG, but if you say there's a thread here that backs up your claim, it's you responsibility to provide a link to that thread so others can see what exactly it said and how reliable the source for that information may have been.

If I had a nickel for every time Bleeding Cool reported that Didio was being removed from DC...well, I'd only have like 30 cents but you get my point.

Having said that, the publishing side of comics has been declining for years, and I've been arguing that it's not a matter of if the direct market ceases but when.

Read again. They are reporting on the general WB-dictated cutdowns at DC, and reporting on a rumour (clearly marked as gossip) that DiDio is on the way out, but also reports that their other sources say that DiDio still remains as publisher.

Would I have written the article that way? Probably not, but Bleeding Cool clearly distinguished between DiDio leaving DC (marked as rumour) and the general restructuring (which they marked as confirmed, and were correct about).

Yeah it's pretty sad to see because I want comic books to thrive . I wonder, if this is true, which books would survive the "New 22"
