I just realised again of the major best picture nominees, Black Panther is the only movie not nominated in acting, screen play or directing. LOL.

I want Viggo Mortensen to win for best actor.Very tired of all the biopics wining. so what if Christian Bale and Rami Malek played real life people?impersonating people is so mid 2000s. The oscars could use a breather after Gary Oldman won last year for impersonating Churchill.

    I largely agree with this.

Except I feel that Regina King deserves the Oscar over Emma Stone.

Are you not aware that Viggo Mortensen was playing a real life person?

I wanted Viggo to win because he is usually good in any role he plays. if it is a real life person, it is not as exciting.

I loved both. I have to say visually Spider-verse did for me than Incredibles...while the stories were probably about "even". The voice acting was also pretty even. I'd say SpiderVerse for me both should and will win. But not by a lot.

The story was what mostly tipped the scale to Incredibles for me. I found the script for Spider-verse to be achingly bad.

I've been burned by Paul Schrader in the past, so I was nervous about watching FIRST REFORMED but when I finally got around to watching it, I was blown away. In terms of script, I guess it loses points for using DIARY OF A COUNTRY PRIEST as its template--so it's not completely original.

But it's miles ahead of THE FAVOURITE, which is probably weakest in terms of script--it's really what everyone else does with that script that is the triumph--in lesser hands such a script would have yielded a very poor movie.

Anyway the only chance at an award that FIRST REFORMED has is in the screenplay department, where THE FAVOURITE has chances in other categories. So in the spirit of giving everyone a participation medal, the Academy should decide to honour Paul Schrader for his body of work by giving FIRST REFORMED the screenplay Oscar. That he's never before been nominated by the Academy, let alone won, is criminal. What did he ever do to them that they would not recognize his work?

NO! NO NO NO! NO WAY! If First Reformed gets the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, it should be because the Academy thinks it's the best original screenplay OF THE YEAR! It's not a Lifetime Achievement Award!

I feel like Ludwig Göransson should take the Oscar for Best Original Score for Black Panther. The way he mixes classic orchestra with traditional African music and elements of hip hop is genius.

I do think the plot was tighter for Incredibles. Agree with you on that.
