Now THIS is an upset. And while I do feel bad for Glenn Close, I must say I'm thrilled with this one. The Favourite was one of my favorite movies this year and I almost expected it to be shut out.

To think the first time I saw him was in 2005 on The War at Home.

14 years later he's an Oscar winner.

I loved that Guillermo Del Toro was about to give the Best Director award to his friend Cuaron.

    Gross.

It's funny. I didn't even really dislike Green Book. In fact, I actually found it rather enjoyable, but it just was not good enough to be a Best Picture. It took a story away from an interesting man and made it about his less interesting driver and then we come to find out that much of it was fabricated. It's a safe movie, not particularly well written or shot. It was well acted, but there's more to a movie than that. Roma, The Favourite, and Blackkklansman were art, Black Panther elevated a genre. And Green Book just kind of stuck to safe Oscar bait territory.

Pretty disheartening end to a pretty enjoyable ceremony.

The only consolation for me is that it wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody. At least I kind of liked Green Book. I found Bohemian Rhapsody offensive.

Well it was a hell of a night to be a Marvel fan, that’s for sure. But Green Book? Really?

Remember, the family of the man portrayed by Mahershala Ali in Green Book have said that the film does not reflect reality
