Default Which one would have a greater impact/effect?

Which one would have a greater effect in comics and greater pop culture?

The permanent death of Superman or the permanent death of Spiderman?

This means no more movies, comics, video games, toys, costumes, merchandise or any future reference to the characters. DC or Marvel can never bring the characters back in any form via rebirth or alternate realities or What ifs; and cannot make any cameos anywhere. Old comics that the characters appear in cannot be reprinted and no one can ever draw or write about these characters again.

They are both equally big. Just in different ways.

Superman has always been more famous and popular in general pop culture, so I think his loss would have greater impact. While both characters have made many guest-appearances in comics, Superman was also a founding member of the Justice League, DC's flagship teambook. Spider-man was an Avenger for a few years, but generally his ongoing appearances have been contained to his own monthly titles plus Marvel Team-Up. So again, Superman's would have a bigger impact in terms of reprints and cameos.

Within their respective settings, Superman would absolutely and definitely be the bigger loss, as he has saved the world many times and is loved by people all around the world. This is a hard thing for Spider-man fans to hear, but on Marvel Earth, Spider-man is strictly a local hero, even though his NYC is one of the biggest cities in the world. And for more than half his career, Spider-man wasn't even publicly regarded as a hero.
