The fact that everything is soooo slice of life, lighthearted mushiness is most likely to contrast the **** out of their terrifyingly oppressive jobs. I don’t think Leah has been light on just how twisted these guys are, going as far as to get characters like Northstar who are known for being pretty anti-fascist. Even to push on that point, I think either this issue or next, the team has to decide what to do when they find a pregnant woman.

This isn't out of left field, though. The cookies thing? Mentioned in AoXM Alpha. I suspect what Williams is going for is mundane creepiness. These guys? They're a bunch of flatmates who go out and fundamentally destroy lives because it's their job. They're about to strip two people's existance away, and Northstar reacts with a level of annoyance fit for the neighbors' dog getting out again. And after they do this, they're likey going to go home and argue over the remote.

Just following orders and all that.

This is spot on to what I'm thinking. To them, this is just another day at the job. I also wonder if Moneta's noodle fingers aren't just to see memories, but to implant false memories.
