not just that, but all animal death. it fucks my **** up for the whole day. i also can’t rly enjoy stuff with rape scenes, domestic violence, or anything else that wrecks me, emotionally, to the point of not functioning as well for a lil bit. it’s because i’m a weenie who doesn’t want to cry or feel bad, but also because of the real life reasons that that kind of stuff makes me cry or feel bad in the first place
so if there’s specific stuff you need content warnings for regarding how i’m handling sensitive subjects in X-TREMISTS just uh. let me know. now that the fourth cover is out i can finally be honest about what to expect in that regard without compromising the planned reveals or spoiling anything that you’ve now been shown. i can’t spoil the plot obviously but if you are worried that you’ll see a gay character in my book doing a hate crime on another gay mutant for being gay i can now say god, no, of course not
X-TREMISTS is not a story that revels in Nate Grey’s complicit erasure when creating “a world without love” bc i wanted to write the righteous anger of gay freedom fighters instead. but first they have to wake up, and it’s not easy. that doesn’t mean i’m being unkind to these characters–it means i’m being honest about my sympathies for what they’re experiencing.
