For depth I'd say my favorite ever is the Hyperion series by Dan Simmons.
For sheer enjoyment the Superpowered's series by Drew Hayes. Its right up any comic book fan's alley as its a world with superheroes but it takes a more modernly realistic take in that to be an authorized superhero you have to go through training. The series is about a group of students going through college training to be supeheroes. Sort of Harry Potter but superheroes. It manages to hit a lot of classic comic book tropes in familiar but modernized ways.
I did enjoy Ring World.
The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury are very good.
I had a collection of stories by polish sci fi legend Stanislaw Lem, who is best known in the US for Solaris, which was turned into a movie with George Clooney. I remember enjoying that.
And I really did love Jules Verne as a kid... from today's perspective, his scifi is a bit steampunk almost
