I liked the 70s run, but the death of Batman was such a weak story and decision.

I said 'among'. I happen to really like the Levitz JSA series and consider it among the best as well.

It was sort of a prequel to JSA with the "old-timers" mixing it up with the new blood of Power Girl, Huntress, and Star Spangled Kid.

I tried this series and I really was enjoying the “core” JSA members, but I really didn’t care at all for the characters you mentioned and that is largely why I did not finish.

The Obsidian/Kobra/Hunt For Extant is my favorite trade of the series. Amazing stories in that one.

Seriously great stories. I think this is becoming an all time favorite of mine. This is really my first experience with these characters, besides New 52 Earth 2, which I mean...you know how that is... But they have really grown on me so quickly, Atom Smasher, Dr. Midnite, Sand. I love them all so far. I already loved Wildcat, as a huge Batfan. I'm just really satisfied so far!

Just finished Omnibus vol.3,
while I do think this omnibus it's less better in quality compared to vol.1 and vol.2 I still think it was a solid read.
I think the Magog/Gog storyline was stretched out for too long IF I were to read it issue by issue once a month.
The team is too crowded, I couldn't care less about Citizen Steel, Amazing Man, Starman, etc.
What made the previous omnis great is the fact that all those characters got the spotlight.
Anyways, since I've now finished the entire JSA run by Johns, I can't wait to see a new ongoing.
My fav DC team, let's go.
